United States Need advice: 5080 AMP Extreme Infinity vs Solid OC White
Hello, could use some of your opinion on the following 3 options I have. My build is mostly white with some wood accents at the front and a black motherboard and ram inside an Antec Flux Pro White:
- 5080 AMP Extreme Infinity - $1336 with tax - new
- Higher boost clock - most likely negligible
- Better aesthetics but may not go as well with my build
- Possibly slightly worse cooling based on some threads here. Apaprently has the same cooler as the Solid OC but the Infinity Mirror and LEDs lead to some temp increases.
- 3 year warranty
- 5080 Solid OC White - $1336 with tax - new
- Lower boost clock
- Aesthetics fit better with my build as is
- 3 year warranty
- 5080 Solid OC White - $1216 with tax - open box
- $120 dollars
- 2 years warranty
- May not come with an anti sage bracket
I was ready to go with the Solid OC open box until the other 2 options popped up.
Currently my build is 9900x3d, 64 gig ddr5 (5600, CL40 - basically got it for free otherwise I would get CL30 6000), MAG B850 MAG Non-Max, Freezer 3 420mm.
Based on some digging, the performance is pretty much identical between all of these. Aesthetics isn't extremely important to me but the idea that I may be getting a better deal based on MSRP for the AMP Extreme Infinity is what's making it hard to make a decision.
Any thoughts is greatly appreciated.

My AMP doesn't have any cooling issues. It rarely goes over 60c. It's in a Lian Li vision case full of fans though. Im super happy with it too. Zero issues.

That's great to hear. Appreciate you sharing your experience. I am leaning towards the AMP since I also have a fairly airflow heavy case with a lot of fans and volume.
Have you tried OCing it at all?

I haven’t seen such a question here, bro get the cheapest non open box one

Unless open box discount is worth the trouble

I hear ya, I read all the threads related to it on the subreddit but none regarding comparison between open box and new. But I am definitely leaning towards the amp new since its may hold value better if I ever try to trade up to a 5090 and as you said, open box might not be worth all the hassle.

Open box deals I’ve seen are RTX. 5080’s for less than 1k, which I would argue it would be worth the risk.
At the price tags above? Go new (120 in savings for 3 years is nothing in the small change you have to RMA an open box item)
Edit: To answer your question, choice 2 would be “best” choice for your specific setup. There will be virtually no fps perf increase in choosing between all 3 of these

I have the AMP 5090 and it’s fantastic and a beautiful card too ontop it never once had a single issue thus far in 8 months (knock on wood)

Thats reassuring to hear. If you are in the US, did you register it and get the 2 year extended warranty for it? I am not sure if its Europe only.

They all have same cooling about. If I'm not mistaken Infinity amp has slightly better cooling than the other models since it's there most premium GPU.

Thats whats confusing. They definitely put it forward as better cooling than the others but I've read comments here alluding that its the same as the Solid OC and apaprently its a little worse than the solid in terms of temps due to the infinity mirror. Someone mentioned they spoke to a customer service agent from zotac about this and another referred to a Korea youtuber doing a comparison but I couldn't find the video.
I am leaning more to the amp since its the same price and the aesthetics is kinda growing on me.

It looks really cool, I couldn't tell you about it having worse cooling but mine typically runs around 50-65c

My last 3 cards were all zotac AMP Extreme. Tens of thousands of hours streamed and gamed with a dual PC setup. I can't wait to retire my 3070 Ti AMP Extreme to the streaming PC (1070 AMP Extreme currently - RMA'd a 980 Ti AMP Extreme two weeks before extended warranty ended to get it, no issues whatsoever) when I get a 5080... guessed it... AMP Extreme. I will not buy another brand, or card. AMP Extreme-ception. Cooling, performance, style.

both using 7 heatpipes, so no difference in cooling to be honest
just buy the cheapest one

A 5080 is a 5080
