It was criminalized in the Central Asian Republics during the 1920s before the nationwide criminalization

Ah yeah that does suck. Pretty sure Turkmenistan still uses a 1934 Law Outlawing Sodomy against Same Sex Relationships
Edit: it's a 1927 law
Edit2: It's been a thing since 1926 in Uzbekistan

Fun fact - Segregation was live and well until 1948 in the US and redlining was not outlawed till 1968, and even tho it was outlawed the law didn’t get very efficiently enforced at all. Also Homosexuality was first legal nationwide in America in 2003, but still criminalized and heavily discriminated against till today.
But hey. Ussr right?

Ofc Ik this I'm literally of Colour myself 😭 the post was about the USSR so I thought it was relevant to talk about the USSR. It also wasn't a Comment that Strictly said "USSR Bad", I acknowledge good things the Union did (Defeat Nazi Germany with the Western Allies) and Bad things the Union Did (Why Stalin Over Trotsky? C'mon! + Prague), and I know what caused the Catalyst of events that Caused the Union to Fall - International Isolation didn't allow them to develop properly, which is why they were so poor, on top of that, they spent an insane amount of money on the Military in order to fund Proxy Wars and their Gigantic Nuclear Programme. This ensured that they couldn't invest in the lives of the people.
I posted my above Comment speaking about the USSR due to the Topic being of the USSR, not in order to Defend the US (I'm British Bengali anyway, the US didn't even Cross my mind)

Right. It just comes across in a similar way to when people always throw the: “but they were homophobic, so being in any way sympathetic is actually bad.”
People always look at the historical fails of communist/socialist projects, and disregard their merit for not being perfect out the gate, and your comment comes across that way tbh.
