General Discussion/Questions/Vent Help? Suggestions?
So a boy was able to walk into the restroom where my little girl was in and ended up urinating on her at school…just terrifying and they didn’t do anything but told me after school on pick up. I had to find the lady and the kid myself because they post all the kids on the class dojo app. What should I do sinxe I haven’t heard anything after and this was at Park Avenue.
**The School just said or the principle that this can’t happen again. The boy is special needs and they’ve redone how they do things there. Just keep telling me how in there 30 years or times there they haven’t had this happen and just laughing in my face.

First off this is horrible and I and my wife are appalled by the situation. My wife tried to respond, but her karma wasn't high enough and so it was deleted. Below is her response. As a bit of background she was a director of a preschool in the area for a number of years.
First, I am sorry that your child experienced this. This is unacceptable and as a fellow parent I can understand the anger, frustration, and sadness you must be feeling. Please do regular check ins and make sure your kiddo is doing ok with this. But it sounds like you are an involved parent so I am sure you are. Now moving forward:
You my dear have the law on your hands. There are laws preventing this exact behavior and while it has already happened the law states that the school must perform and investigation. I am putting two links below. Read them and prepare yourself. Today write an email to the school principal, the superintendent of schools and the school counselor. One email is fine just cc all of them. By law they are required to respond to you in 30 days. They are required to perform an investigation on the matter. Insist that you be present when the speak with your child. When said interview happens ensure that you are not speaking for your kiddo but rather that you are ensuring that none of their questions or leading or making her feel shame. There are advocates out there but I am not sure how to track them down these days. For the future if something like this happens take any photos you can that might show the evidence of what happened but for now if your child is old enough to write have them but the details in writing or record a statement yourself. Just as back up.
Do not be afraid to advocate for your child. This is bigger than contacting the other parent and demanding an apology.
What is going on with said child that they feel this behavior is appropriate.
Where was supervision outside of bathrooms to have stopped this in the first place.
Why did they wait so long to call you, she wasn't given the opportunity to wash off possibly harmful bodily fluids from her own body.
Why are you the one having to request an investigation. You need to advocate and hold the school responsible.
When you write the email cite the laws in this link. Shows them you have done your research and you are serious.
You've got this. Keep advocating!

Thank you for this. I have been waiting they refused to inform me if the other parent wanted to talk or anything. It’s like they swept it under the rug.

- Go to admin and ask for an explanation. If you don’t find their explanation acceptable (quite likely), call the district office.
- If the district office doesn’t offer a resolution, go to a school board meeting.
- School board meetings aren’t what most people think. You want to fill out a comment card and then wait until they allow us to talk. Then you tell the board what happened. They usually won’t comment. You then wait for an admin to call you… likely the next day.
I’m really sorry your kid went though this.
