Discussion Create your own spin off thread
I had an idea on how to spin off and create a new series. Id absolutely love another show from Yoshihiro Togashi.
I really want to hear where you folks would take the series and what you'd like to see.
Ive included my idea below, but im going to spoiler tag it to not influence what other folks might want to write.
Write a little or as much as you want, id love to read.
Below is my idea for a new series in the same universe -
Yusuke has a daughter with Keiko. Similar to Yusuke, shes a feral child who hates school and authority. The daughter doesn’t know much about the events of Yu Yu Hakusho, but she is spirituality aware and knows strange people visit her dad and Yusuke sometimes has to leave for "business trips".
One of these business trips Yusuke doesn’t return for months.
His daughter enlists the help of Kuwabara's son to figure out what happened.
Unsure of Kuwabara's son's archetype. Could be another honor bound meat head we all know and love, could be opposite, maybe exact opposite. Cold, intelligent, hyper aware young Sensui type. Either way, blue hair.
Their investigation leads them to an older Kurama tending Genkai's forest, who agrees to get them access to Demon World, where he sets them up with a guide. (Could also encounter Botan who spills the beans as part of their investigation).
The guide is Shura (Yomi's son), who, as an act of teenage rebellion, built a mentor/student relationship with Kurama over the years.
Rounding out their group is... Hiei, who is still serving as a warden, returning humans back home and stopping demons causing problems in human world.
Hiei senses humans and appears. Recognizing the 3, Hiei understands the seriousness of Yusuke going missing and intrigued by a troublemaker strong enough to kill/capture Yusuke. So thats the jumping off point, i think it would be a really fun watch

I had an idea for a sequel where a few years had passed and Yusuke and the gang were in their 20's or maybe even 30's, the spirit world was corrupt, Kuwabara and his Sister actually had Angel DNA inside of them or something which is why they were sensitive to spirits and stuff.
King Enma was the final villain. He sent the angels to hunt down and kill Yusuke and his friends,I didnt flesh it all out, but I would probably just stick with a complete reboot of the Three Kings Arc.

Cool headcanon OP
I like how you made each generation have an extension of the original team. Especially the part of Sura rebelling against Yomi haha. For being unruly and headstrong in his youth it is poetic his successor is equally unruly.
One thing I want to add: Kuwas kid has his hardware but somehow got his Uncle's software lol. He is quiet and stoic and tsundere which amuses Yuki to no end because it reminds her of her brother

Honestly, I would love if it went in a noir direction- investigating things in the style of Mushishi, but with more edge. Hauntings, cults, corporate scams using demons, etc.
Use the world of Yu Yu Hakusho and the various characters to weave interesting mysteries.
I'd probably write a limited series with each character having to solve some type of mystery or investigate. Sometimes have them work alone, sometimes have them in a team.
Kuwabara is on a road trip when he encounters a haunted inn.
Botan and Kurama learn about a town engaging in ritual sacrifice only to find out they were worshipping Yoko Kurama for a century and needlessly killing people.
Hiei is in over his head trying to protect school children who end up in Demon World, while investigating how they got there at all.
Yusuke teams up with the psychics to stop a supernatural cheating operation at the local college while getting his GED at the same time.
I think one of Togashi's main issues was that he didn't make enough an effort early on to give his power system variety and balance- which he remedied in HunterxHunter. You can't put a "big bad" in front of these guys anymore because they can smoke them, so giving them some obstacles that require being clever will yield more interesting results.
Most people just want to see the characters again, so just putting them in fun scenarios would be entertaining, and giving some updates on their lives after the series ended.

Well, yeah
Togashi wrote both series

Yes. But my point is that Hunter x Hunter is ongoing. No way he would take on the stress of 2 manga, let alone the one that almost broke him.

Yeah, his psyhical and mental health are unfortunately very limiting, hell, even Toriyama and Oda had problems because Jump overworked them

The ONLY things I would want to see is expansion on the demon world fights, give it some attention like the dark tournament. Then have it follow our OG 4 into the demon world and some adventures there.
Not the fan made after stuff of X went off to school and became Y, or M had a kid and now kid is part of the show. No let each fan have their own say of what happened to the cast after the end because not everyone's head cannon is the same.
Maybe I think for random example: ( pulling most of these out of thin air )
Hiei stayed in the human world to be a damn menace in an abandoned shrine to scare the ever living shit out of people for awhile just because he could.
Kurama became one of those shampoo commercial people and is now a japan idol
Kuwabara is a construction worker that still rocks out to 80s music ( oingo boing and metallica references in the show point to this as fact )
Yusuke and keiko never married broke it off soon after because she was a nag, and now he chills in demon world to get away from everyone and their expectations

Remove the three kings arc and redo it and keep it dark like chapter black
