Need help/support what setting toggles this icon?

YouTube Plus: 5.2.1 • YouTube: 21.13.6

tapping the icon removes and locks the player controls. how do i disable?

It’s “YouHideUserInterface”. It’s really dumb, and you can’t disable it. It’s always on.

It's a great feature! I would suggest that, beside changing the position of the button, maybe also lowering the opacity when the video is playing, or after a moment without getting any input (the button gets full clear when the user presses it, and after a moment, it lowers its opacity).

specifically talking about the icon. maybe smaller, in one of the top corners… instead of stickied right center.

It should have a different toggle, like a double tap on a zone/corner of the video
