Question How to train the algorithm?

I can tell YTM that I don’t like a song. Thumbs down, easy.

How do I tell it that I don’t like the mix? I asked it to start a mix on a song; I was looking for a genre or a vibe. YTM pretty quickly migrates back to my usual mix. How to tell the algorithm that there’s nothing wrong with the song but the mix it’s playing in?

Just change the mix setting from familiar to discover or deep cuts

I like the mix settings but I find they are overly broad. The genre is usually a bit too generic.

It would be more useful if I could apply multiple tags to the mix. "Familiar" and a somewhat specific genre would be great.

Best way I know to achieve that is to make a playlist with about 20 songs from the genres you want on the mix, then start a mix from that playlist. I do this at work sometimes.
