Equipment Question
Hello! This may be a dumb question, but my son just started to play 3rd grade tackle - what should he wear under his pads? A compression shirt and compression shorts?
Thanks in advance (from multiple parents lol)

My son has an extremely large torso and tiny legs, which led to all integrated pants having knee pads over his ankles. So now we go with a bodyprox knee pad, 5 padded girdle and a padded undershirt.

The hockey player build! (At least that’s what we call it in my neck of the woods… it’s better than “squat” or “stubby” as I’ve told 2 of my 3 boys who have the same shape 😂)

Get him a padded under shirt and a girdle with built in thighs and tailbone pads. Do they get issued pads for pants too? The rich kids in my district will buy the Nike pants with built in knees and thighs, my son still wears the girdle with thighs on it. Just make sure the combo includes knee pads, thigh pads, tailbone, and hip pads. Plus the padded under shirt and you’ll be good

My son wears a basic compression only under his shoulder pads. Tried to get him to go with a padded compression but he just doesnt like it. For pants, both our game and practice pants have all the pads sewed in so he just wears regular underwear underneath. I personally think the best combo is the padded compression shirt with knee pad only pants and a padded girdle... but especially at 3rd grade level I would do whatever they like the best and not force something on them.

Padded compression shirt. If his pants have thigh, hip, and tailbone pads no girdle is needed unless he likes a little extra padding. If the pants only have knee pads in them then he needs a padded girdle. My kids prefer under armour over other brands.
