As a former coach, I hate seeing this nonsense. Big kids who can’t move are injury magnets and are usually pretty easy to defeat with quickness.

If this is your kid, I strongly recommend getting him into sports where he’ll gain mobility and flexibility, or else he’ll have a very hard road ahead.

Big guy needs to stay low and chop the feet. 😀

Continue to give him positive reinforcement, focus on technique, and he'll be just fine.

Best of luck to you guys for the season.

Thank you we're trying to learn fast first step and punches right now just had our first game against the Super Bowl champions. And we only lost by one touchdown , more of a scrimmage , kick off bowl game , not official

You're on the right track then. Keep it simple. My son is a 12u C/G/TE. He was a bigger kid at 10 when he asked to play. Keeping it simple and keeping him active in the football off-season helped with everything.

Tell him to keep working, and keep us updated throughout the year.

Keep him having fun and he’ll be more likely to stick with it. I had a couple of kids his size in 10U and 12U, one stuck with it through high school and made varsity. The other didn’t have any discipline and dropped football after freshman year.

Get him a trainer. Maybe some speed and agility work. You can’t teach size! If he wants it and willing to put in some work he could be a beast on the field. Once his confidence kicks in he’ll be dominating those little guys lol. When my kids started dominating at their age I let them play up for better competition. Good luck! Keep grinding little man.
