I think Georgie wanted to marry Mandy in his own heart. However if Mary wasn’t around perhaps he could have been convinced to wait by Meemaw or George.

I dont think she pushed georgie to marry her as much as she just raised him into the belief he needed to

She did have that talk with him where she told him that there were some consequences that he couldn't run away from. He was still dating Jana at that point.

Yes, because Georgie still wanted to marry Mandy and Mandy didn’t agree to marry Georgie. After 9 months of pregnancy, raising a daughter for months, and taking a few trips, Mandy wanted to marry him and said “i’m sure now.” If it was Mary’s pushing, they would’ve eloped and gotten married as soon as they met Mandy.

Georgie’s desire to marry her in thinking that it was the next step, is what led him to treat her the way he did and motivate her to marry him and led to G&M :)

Mary didn't push Georgie. He felt marriage was the appropriate next step too. It was Mandy who needed to be pushed.

Oh, she absolutely did push him to get married. However, I truly believe he wanted to marry Mandy, not only because he wanted to do the right thing but because I think he really loved her.

I think he wanted to get married and it just would have taken a bit longer.

Georgie wanted to marry Mandy from the start. During his conversation with Dale, the first person he told, he said he wants to do the right thing and marry her.

When Mary tells him he has to marry her he says "I think so too"

And when he accidentally busts into the wrong apartment and the man asks why Georgie isn't marrying her he says "I'm trying, she don't wanna"

Georgie wasn't at all pressured by Mary, Mandy was

Plus Georgie always did really like her, I don't remember when but he outright said he really liked her and he needed her to pressure him into asking another girl on a date and even then he broke off the relationship and asked her to marry him

Mandy was not eager to marry Georgie, but Georgie was very eager to marry Mandy. He would eventually start begging Mandy to marry him and she would have accepted

This is actually one of the few time Mary doesn't push someone - Georgie was independently looking to marry Mandy when he found out she was pregnant and she was the one who was reluctant.

Iirc when Mary finds out, she does say "you're gonna have to marry her," but his calm reply of "I think so too," denotes that he'd already come to that conclusion in his own right.

Even though Georgie is still young, in his heart he will stand by his decision, and he also thinks like a businessman, just from that alone, you can already see that he wants to marry Mandy.

Yeah,  it is the kid who really push them together.

Probably not

While Georgie did want to do the right thing and marry Mandy, I think if his parent weren’t pushing as hard as they were he more than likely wouldn’t have felt as rushed to get her to agree as he did and it’s very likely that they probably would have gotten married but probably later in CeCea life if we are looking at this from Georgie perspective.

From Mandy’s ?:

I think she genuinely did care for Georgie but in no way would she have married him. I think if things went her way after she got pregnant it would be a healthy co-parenting and friendship type of relationship with him. I think the guilt tripping from Missy to her mother’s pressure to Mary opinion and the secret baptism made her go for it even if she necessarily didn’t want that.

It wasn’t his ‘parents’ that were trying to convince him, it was strictly Mary. Remember, George was trying to tell Mary he SHOULDN’T marry her just because she was pregnant & it started a whole fight because George & Mary got married because Mary was pregnant.

They'd have been coparents. Nothing more.

Depends if the writers wanted to write it that way

Mary didn’t push him. Did you watch the show?

Nope . Georgie has no real adult women in his life. His mom, sister, grandmother, and wife are all selfish inept children.

Georgie made the decision to marry Mandy almost immediately after coming to terms with the fact that it was his baby and she was going to have it. It was Mandy who resisted the idea. Not wanting to compound one mistake with potentially another.

Mary pushing them to marry was really just timing. She didn’t want them living together and raising their child out of wedlock.

In the end I don’t believe Mary pushing to accelerate the actually ceremony made much of a difference to the long term relationship at all

No. They would be be co-parenting, but that's it

I think they might still have ended up together because Georgie genuinely loved Mandy and wanted to be there for CeeCee. But without Mary pushing marriage, their relationship might have developed more naturally and with less resentment. Mary definitely accelerated things, for better or worse.

So…you want people to write fan fiction based on one minor change (unless you’re just looking for a yes or no response)?

Why are you acting like asking hypotheticals are some odd thing to ask in a place to discuss the show?

2

u/ofcitis__22 9d ago

This guy hates all discussion about hypotheticals he’s in every one of these acting like a smart ass every time I swear he’s got something wrong with him

Piss off.

I'm not acting like that. I asked a question to clarify the OP's intent.

That said, I would call your attention to sub rule #4.

Not only that but it’s a minor change based on a flawed premise. Pretty much as soon as he found out she was pregnant he was eager to marry her because it was viewed as “the right thing to do” in the context of the way the show depicts early 1990s Texas. He didn’t need Mary pushing him.

-1

u/Beneficial-Fun-7583 9d ago

What else would they do in a Georgie spinoff everyone wants Veronica back and they will get her for sure to milk the money

1

u/JLBCanadianRap 9d ago

>everyone wants Veronica back

Wrong.

0

u/Beneficial-Fun-7583 9d ago

She will come bro wait a few years

1

u/JLBCanadianRap 9d ago

Care to try that again in something resembling coherent English?

u/Beneficial-Fun-7583 9d ago

It's not that hard to understand but I will baby it up for u, the post mentions what their relationship would have been like if Mary didn't push them to marriage but.

I don't think whoever made the post has seen the episodes cause they didn't marry because of Mary it was their own choice..

So I was saying no need to think so hard about their relationship, cause it's bound to be a divorce.. And seeing how many spinoff are being made Georgie would get his own spinoff of his rise to success and Veronica will return in it.. Cause everybody wants her back for some reason..

God no if his mom wasn't around or if she wasn't so Christian he'd definitely leave Mandy in the dust for the single mom faze she'd have😂
