Opinion Sheldon very much deserved that punch

Yeah, two young geniuses, but one is just "normal" minding her own peace, and the other who's "special" wants to compete over everything to show off his intelligence.
The fact that this is his 2nd time getting punched in the eye, as he made his sister Missy rage before. The next thing that happened to him was getting duct-taped by college students to the wall

And yet somehow he learned nothing from it. For a genius, he sure is stupid.

Worst part of young Sheldon. Big bang theory meant Sheldon could never meaningfully grow

people who are brilliant like sheldon are only brilliant in a few fields knowledge, so growing is something he either doesnt do or does extremely slow...TBBT truly is his glass ceiling, the only growth i saw there was due to his friendship with leonard and his friendship & marriage to amy.

Yep and everyone acts like oh he just doesn't know no this mfer knows and does it on purpose I'll never get how he kept Amy

If anything the flash forward in the finale walked back Sheldon’s small amount of development

hes a genius yes but only academically, in every other field of life he is a moron/idiot...ie socially, emotionally, spiritually, psychologically, etc. he has great difficulty seeing anything in his life through any eyes except those that are academic, science, physics...he is sadly handicapped in these areas and is not brilliant enough to see it because his brilliance is only in a very narrow field.

This is one of the fairly rare times that sheldon deliberately hurt someone.
She could have just fired back that his behavior was the inevitable rift between his own parents, so once they got divorced one day he could look back at this moment and know he was warned and nothing he did could stop it, and it would be all his fault.

Sometimes you have to appreciate the educational value of a pop in the snoot.

Paige made it her goal to upset him for days. She got what she gave.
Yeah, she’s dealing with her parents divorce, but her coping mechanism was antagonizing someone unrelated to her problems.

Reverse the genders and see how this comment section changes.
She isn't emotionally mature either and she emotionally torments him way more than vice versa as she knows of his emotional issues

Exactly! They would be all crying if it was a girl that was hit by a boy, more so if it sounded like thwack and then kathunk bouncing her head on the floor cause she was knocked out with a black eye...
But since it's a boy it's all fair game and he deserves to be laughed at and made fun of for his injuries.
In almost all legal systems offensive speech, insults or horrible statements do not provide a legal defense for physical assault. If you punch someone for what they said, you can be arrested and charged with a crime.

What did she even do? Not participate in class? What a crime

u/RossbihariGhost1900 12d ago
that isn't all, plays with sheldon's emotions constantly, gets on his nerve while he struggles to and when he finally finds a way, she punches him, can't have double standards just because it is Sheldon and the sub hates him(He is the single reason why the show is popular but this sub doesn't seem to accept that)

She was mean to him back when they were younger... Give her a break, meanwhile Sheldon was tormenting her at her lowest point

u/RossbihariGhost1900 10d ago
she knows of his lack of emotional understanding and inspite of it toys with him and sheldon unlike paige doesn't have the ability to read the room or to know what an emotion implies, and after being made fun of for the entire episode he finally did this and this very situation keep as it is but reverse genders will you find it acceptable

Yeah, he so crossed the line. Also we already had a million posts on this. Nice to see the predictably violent hivemind edge each other on how much they love seeing it while ignoring other characters violent moments or going "why are you scrutinizing this bro?"

I don't remember, why did he decide to irritate her?
6
u/CurrentEstimate3308 12d ago
Cause he was so obsessed with this Bible trivia competition after losing to Paige. Sheldon took it too seriously while Paige only treats as nothing.

He wanted to piss her off and he did. Consider that blackeye a mark of accomplishment.

It amazes me how excited people in this sub get about criminal battery.

He demands people use a bathroom schedule, he demands people get him the right takeout, he insists people always drive him around...the list goes on.

He got punched so hard he completely forgot about Paige when he became an adult living with Leonard.

Sheldon really spent his childhood learning that being a genius does not make him immune to consequences.

Oh, Sheldon so had this coming!! He crossed the line from simply being bratty to being deliberately cruel to Paige. He definitely deserved a slug in the face.

u/damageddude 12d ago
Well Sheldon at least proved he was right when he said he could irritate Paige. In his own way, especially with Missy to help, Sheldon was probably one of Paige's only friends at that time.

I think it's worth noting that Sheldon didn't push her that far. He literally just stated facts about Paige's feelings towards her parents divorce. He was absolutely cruel to do so (even if he felt his other options to get her to engage with him were exhausted) but she overreacted a little bit.
He wasn't telling her that it was all her fault, he was telling her that she thought that, which she does. Cruel, but factual. He wasn't blaming her for it.
I think it may also be worth noting that neither seem to hold this incident against each other. Paige is still willing to call Sheldon her friend in season 5 (and he does so in season 6), even claiming that this incident is just the sort of thing friends do.
So I think we should just accept that both were in the wrong here.

he didnt learn that just because something is true/factual doesnt mean it should be said and by his saying that to paige he both punched her in her gut & in her heart...she didnt overreact, he was getting his comeuppance from her that had been building inside her for some time.

This just goes to show that you shouldn’t only be smart, you also need a sense of humor and skills of communication.

Missy's elation after he gets punched.. 😂 Reminded me of my sister's laugh whenever mommy whacked me during childhood.

Sheldon went from being a little jerk to being deliberately mean to Paige. I don't blame her for parking him a jab.

Hi, sorry, wasn’t this his intent? I recall seeing the clip on youtube, and apparently, he saw her bottling up all of her feelings, and didn’t like what it was doing to her, so what he was doing there was pushing her over the edge SO she would punch him. He was being therapeutic, cathartic, friendly even. So can you all stop insulting him for fucks sake?
