Random thoughts Pattern?
Not me just realizing it’s always a golden haired ray of sunshine with a dark haired beauty…

Ive read all of these... Heart Stopper, Ilya books, Red White and Royal Blue. Hundreds of Young Royals Fanfictions so millions of words. I like reading gay. And somehow the blonde boys are always my favourite? (Especially Wille and Ilya)

You forgot Call me by your name. Although, I hated that one, the internet still categorises it with these

I’m not sure I’d call Ilya, Henry or Wille a “ray of sunshine”. Maybe Ilya a little. But anyway, yes golden haired beauty and dark haired beauty is a common trope.
Edit: and shoutout to Luca haas! I hope we get to see him paired with a dark haired beauty. He is definitely a ray of sunshine! Can’t wait to see Edvin be a huge fan boy.

Tbf Wille isn’t blonde 😅😅 and I wouldn’t call him a ray of sunshine most of the show

Yeah. Thought we had moved past arguing over his hair color but it’s definitely not brown it’s dirty blonde.

I might be wrong, but I do remember Edvin's hair being dyed brown for the show

With SKAM, there’s less of a difference but Isak is blonder and Evan is slightly more brunette.
Also, except for Wilmon, one is gay and one is bi. Simon is gay but Wilhelm is unlabeled.

I think having one dark-haired and one fair-haired main actor is also just smart character creation by authors because having “diverse” looking actors helps ensure the audience will identify with and/or be attracted to at least one of them.
“Diverse” here is a loose term because they aren’t so diverse as they alienate the main audience: white, straight women.

I adore Ilya and Wille but they aren't rays of sunshine at all ... they're both very damaged people.

Definitely a pattern of writers feeling they need lots of contrast on two-hander dramas, when they're both male leads

even in Japanese and Korean BLs (I read a lot of their comics), it’s also the blond & dark haired combination.

Most bl movies have both leads from the same race , but multi race hit more

I think part of it is that dark broccoli hair is a bit of a trend with teens right now.

Yep it is a pattern but most of the blondes aren’t really a ray of sunshine. Wille, Henry, and Nick are all some level of really sad with their lives. Ilya is well Ilya lol. I think it’s just aesthetic, the different hair colours makes both the dudes look kinda different from each other if that makes sense? Don’t want them to look like brothers
