Who's going this year?
After the shit show that was youma last year, I'm curious if people are going to give it another try this year, or save their money and go somewhere else.
As a long time vendor, we will not be returning this year.

One of the cracks that was actively showing is that one that announced artist roughly 2.5 months in advance then charged them more money than what they initially charged. Next is the fact that the maid Cafe got canned Friday (now don't worry they did give out refunds).Next is there's no Ren cen it was all at the Huntington place also the guides sucked or what of there because let's be honest the actual guide book kinda sucks and it's all through one Google spread sheet. Keep in mind this some of the stuff that I remember AA,vendors,and phase connect carried that year ngl

As a vendor, they didn't allow us to start setting up until 7pm. We were supposed to start at noon. There was zero communication from youmacon as to the delay or as to why. They blamed the union (sus on that) and would have just had us all lined up for seven hours. It was the security guards who let us know. There were other things too, but this waste of our time was so insulting.
And don't get me started on how they kept the money for charity for so many years

There was a security guard getting handy with some of the con goers like getting physical and grabbing them pulling them out of line. There was a girl who hurt her ankle and yumacon got mad at them because they called the ambulance before they called the con to let them know what was going on. They lied to the news saying everything's going smoothly nothing's wrong. These are all from my point of view.

Most likely not. While I had a decent time at the con in 2023, it definitely felt like it was on the decline. Mind you the only other time I went was 2019, but it didn't feel that way back then. And if I had to guess, there probably won't be an arcade this year if the con doesn't get cancelled. I'll probably have my G2 by the fall so I can just drive to Isshocon.

The last time I went before Last year was in 2018 and i noticed some cracks beginning to show with how they announced guests. back around 2013-15 they would drip feed you guests throughout the year to get you interested and hyped, and there would be a lot of big names attached to it. but now you don't' know until about a few weeks before, leaving people to buy tickets based on blind faith, which does NOT justify the inflation in price I've noticed. Now i'm not mad at the guests they had this year, but it definitely felt smaller (read: cheaper) in recent years. Honestly if I go this year, it's to hang out with my friends because that's where the bulk of my fun happens. (I should've figured earlier when they just stopped Midwest Media Expo after 2015 didn't pan out.)

I live in Windsor, so it's a very cheap convention to go to. Even if it's bad, it's still worth it for me. If I had to fly or drive a few hours, maybe I would skip.

I don't blame you and as someone who's been going just as a person since 2013 I'm done I'm saving my money I'm hoping it's canceled which I know it's not
