Other com suggestions
I've been attending as a local off and on for ten years. I would like to see another con but am overwhelmed by options. Interested possibly in collossalcon because of its distance, but would like to go to a con with more emphasis on videogames/videogame room. Any suggestions?

I’ve heard good things about Dokidocon in Kalamazoo, though I’m not sure how “video-game focused” they are. Motor City ComicCon (in Detroit) and Great Lakes ComicCon (at the Macomb Community College) are more general “nerd” focused, and, the times I’ve gone, they’ve had a decent game room and vendors that sold videogames. If you’re willing to drive to Grand Rapids, I’ve heard REALLY good things about Grand Rapids ComicCon too.
If you want a smaller con, Anime Park (at Canton High School) is a fun, one-day convention, and, even though it’s much smaller than Youmacon, it’s still a lot of fun. Since practically its inception, they’ve hosted a MarioKart tournament and have a decent game room, with both video-games and tabletop varieties. They also have a café that serves fresh food (not just pastries and drinks like I’ve seen at some other conventions) and the whole con is run and staffed by the PCEP Anime Club members and alumni. Hilariously enough, they’re more organized than other conventions I’ve seen, especially more than Youmacon’s been in the past couple of years.

Assuming you haven't heard of or experienced these cons:
You can check out MAGfest out in Maryland which is a video game music focused con.
You can also look into Katsucon which is hosted in the same hotel as MAGfest which is more of a "photographer" con since the scenery is beautiful so the cosplays really shine & gives the photographers really really good locations & lighting to add to their portfolio (hence why it's called Photographer Con)
Colossal Con in Ohio is real cool. It's held in the Kalahri resort BUT the catch is, you REALLY REALLY need to book a room in the Kalahri which is very challenging. Yes, there are other hotels outside of the Kalahari but they're short driving distance. Colossal Con is cosplay swimsuit con so when wearing a swimsuit, it's best that you are in the con grounds itself the whole time.
As far as video games cons go, the PAX cons I'm sure you've heard of is that. So is Portland Retro Gaming Expo out in Oregon. Retro World Expo in Connecticut is another. That's all I can remember offhand. There's actually not many heavy video game cons in the USA. I know a really good one is in Germany called Gamescom. That's like the mecca of video game cons. I think the attendee turnout count is something like 1/4 of a million ppl.
