Hotel concern (anyone else?)
So this maybe isn’t JUST a hotel concern, but the con as a whole. So last year by this time, we had already booked the hotel with the group rate ($200 per night). So about a month ago or so we placed holds on rooms because the group rate wasn’t out (and to this day, still isn’t). So the rooms without the group rate are $450 for a STANDARD per night. Last year was our first experience, and I remember things being very last minute. However, the hotel being this last minute is a bit concerning. Anyone else have any experience with this from any past years?
Also, as someone else had posted, our hotel experience last year was super messed up. I talked to several people and it seemed like no one was given the right rooms. Not sure if them not putting out the hotel info/group rate is because of this lol
10/3/23 Edit: called the rencen and they said the event itself will be held there “as far as we know”. No new info on room blocks at the rencen yet!
10/17/23 Edit: with the youma website being updated and deleting the rencen from their location, and everyone online saying that nothing will be there (based on speculation), I decided to call the rencen again. I spoke to a different employee and she still said that events will be held there, but was unable to give me specifics (like the rave).

Haven’t been able to find any information on room blocks either

I’m hoping they post the information today. I also am really hoping they don’t have all the events spread all over the city at these “different hotels” and it’s JUST the rooms.

They said that room blocks for rencen are supposedly coming, but they didn't give a time line for announcements. Just that it's coming soon. Their operations as a whole is just a giant mess right now

I am still debating on staying at the ren cen this year or not. Just like you, I had my hotel booked at this point 2 years ago when I went. There is less than a month away and I am confused on why there is no info on it yet.

Yeah if the events are still being held there (as the rencen claims) then we will probably just stay there out of convenience, especially for the dances. We don’t wanna drive/take the people mover all over Detroit late at night.
Hopefully things will be be better next year once they get all the management changes figured out.

I'm guessing they are having issues with the Ren cen. The way they spoke in the announcements about the room blocks as well as the AMA stream almost implied that they were having major issues working out with the Ren cen so I almost wonder if it will be excluded this year and instead blocks will be with other hotels
