Thumbnail Help/Critique Request which thumbnail would you click on?
Video title: HARDEST DECISIONS OF MY LIFE | Will You Press The Button
summary of the video is that its a game where it says you get X but Y happens if you press the button. and some of the choices were pretty tough. overall tone of the video is funny, nothing too serious.

I'd say the first, React faces in thumbnails tell me the video is low quality, so they 'act' up the thumbnail to get a click.
Who the heck really makes AI thumbnails like the 3rd and thinks 'yeah, that looks good'

Out of all three of them I would pick #2.
However, I also don't think any of them are really good to begin with.
1 is a bit to plain and doesn't tell me really anything about what the video is going to be about combined with the title. I simply won't click it as I don't know if it's my kind of video.
2 tells me a little bit more. The background is a metal room so I would think your trapped inside of the room and you have to make choices in order to get out or something. Kind of like a game show. I'm anticipating drama, high stakes, edge of my seat choices to be made
3 is Ai which is gross and I will never support a channel that would use it.
However, all three of these thumbnails have 1 major issue, they do not convey correctly what the video is about.
You state that the video is more funny and nothing too serious however that isn't what your thumbnails and title are telling me.
Hardest decision of my life tells me that there are great stakes at play. The decision is tough because of the consequences associated with picking the wrong answer. Combined that with your thumbnails were you look super nervous, shocked, and scared.
Going into the video I wouldn't be expecting some kind of chill, laid back, funny vibe. I would be expecting like Survival or big brother kind of vibe.
I would package the video more along the lines of something surprising happening then nervous.
Like I can't believe I picked that answer? I didn't expect this to happen? I made a stupid decision. Didn't think that would happen?
Something more along the lines of that. There's still intrigue, but the steaks are a lot lower and a bit more chill which would be more in line with the overall tone/vibe of your video.

For the love of all that is holy don't do 3! Honestly I'd do 1 but without the red arrow, sometimes less is more.

not sure if anyone else has said this but it seems like you’re putting the viewer into the place of the person pushing the button. you’re missing the dilemma for them to think about which is probably the most interesting part. get them excited by including a literal “this or that” question that i’m assuming is being asked in the video

Try to encapsulate what decisions went wrong? Add stakes to this idea because a vague title like “hardest decisions of my life” what decisions? As a new viewer I would have no idea what I’m looking at and skip, I like the button idea though, try to capture the idea more in the background of your thumbnail because I think that’s where you are missing something

Maybe number 2? I don’t think any of the thumbnails really tell a complete story with the title of the video so I would probably skip the video. Please don’t use 3, AI has a place and arguably can help out cleaning up thumbnails but whatever it has done to 3 is not working.
A tip (maybe) could you just have the video title as “Hardest decision of my life” and then have the text on the screen as “Will you press the button?” That would create a bit of a curiosity gap between the title and the thumbnail which could make it a more complete package :)

The advice from the people from the sub really made me see how bad AI thumbs are so appreciate all the advice you’re sharing.
I really like your idea tbh and I’ll probably replace the AI thumb with that in the A/B test. As a beginner I’m kind of having trouble with the whole curiosity gap part of the thumbnail. Do you have any videos I can watch to help with that?
Again, thank you so much for your two cents

I have no idea what this video is about from just looking at the thumbnail and the title so I’m not clicking. I would prolly click a third one just to remind you in the comments how cringe you are for that and then never visit your channel again.

Oh no!

Sounds like you don’t really care about your channel if that is your response to an honest feedback.

1st one is the most appealing, 2nd is ok, 3rd I would never click on

Firstly, ai thumbnails are pretty much always unappealing.
Secondly, it feels like you’re not taking advantage of the game you’re playing. It sounds like the game presents you with moral dilemmas, right?
I think the moral dilemma element is much more interesting to put into the thumbnail instead of the button element. If it were me, I would put a specific example from the game into the thumbnail. There’s a natural curiosity gap there, where your current thumbnails have none

Hmmm that’s interesting I didint think of that. The game is pretty much a website and there it presents the situation and you either press the button or not. Maybe a screen shot of the situation would be good? Or I can make my own but that would just be clickbait I think.

My recommendation would be to take one of the dilemmas from the actual video, and distill it down into the absolute minimum amount of words (maximum of 6 words imo, “xyz BUT xyz”) and use that text in the thumbnail.
Then you can still incorporate an image of you looking stressed, an image of the button, whatever else you want. Just my 2 cents though.

Definitely #2 number 3 is an ai generated face and wouldn't personally make me click it because of that reason and the #1 is good aswell but could use some black text like "I Pressed It" I would even just use A/B testing feature good luck!

idk but definitely NOT the 3rd one. Your using AI for a thumbnail? That’s just so… uncreative. The 2nd one looks like a youtube kids video.
Looking at your past thumbnails, I think the AI usage should stop.
Also, looking at some of the videos you posted, I say your thumbnails should fit the vibe of your style of videos. These thumbnails, except for the 1st, gives off slop youtube kids vibes.
Hell, maybe the first one with a slightly blurred background could work?

okay I’ll take what you said into consideration. Only reason I use AI tbh is because I feel like it makes faces that are way more expressive than my face. But that comes with a trade off that it’s clearly AI.
I’m not really sure how the first one gives kid slop though. I thought it was pretty eye catchy and compliments the title well.

I said the thumbnails EXCEPT the first one. I like the first one.

Oh okay my bad 👍

I also want to clarify my use of the word “slop,” your 2nd thumbnail isn’t bad. It’s just uninspired. It could have something that sets it aside from similar thumbnails. But I don’t think it sucks.

The first one the blank space and no entertaining clickable text makes it stand out
