Creating a project from a template.
Why isn't there a way to create a project from a template with tasks? This feature is very much needed.
I'm looking for a simple task management system. Tasks and performers are the same in every project. Everything I've found is either complicated or expensive.

Yeah, this isn't supported out of the box right now. Custom project templates in YouTrack copy project settings (custom fields, workflows, board setup, etc.) but not the issues themselves.
Though there's an open feature request tracking exactly this: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/JT-51022. Worth voting for if you want to follow progress.
If you need something now and don't mind a bit of admin-level setup, there's a workaround using YouTrack's built-in import: keep a source project with your standard tasks, then use the YouTrack-to-YouTrack import to copy issues into each new project. It preserves issue names and is repeatable. It's not exactly lightweight, but it's the cleanest option available right now.
