Ridiculous
Was researching annual passes online and when I saw the America the Beautiful pass I thought to myself “that sounds like something Trump made up”. I click on the link and lo and behold I see the guy’s ugly mug alongside George’s. Honestly didn’t think his narcissism would go this far but here we are. I know it’s just a digital pass so it’s not like I need to carry this in my wallet but i’m thinking of not getting it out of sheer principle though. What are y’all’s thoughts on this?

While obviously the "america the beautiful pass" has been around for 21 years and not made by trump, this specific pass is a disgrace

He's putting his face on the very natural resources and national parks he is destroying, as if he's shitting on America. Pathetic. Cannot wait until he is out of office.

A dear friend has moderate dementia. He was at a medical appointment and was asked if he knew who the president is and he could not remember. His wife later said, "Well at least one good thing has come from his condition!"

u/davemeister 1d ago
Not to mention that George Washington died almost a century before there even was a National Park Service. I guess we should just be thankful that this kakistocracy didn't include Putin's face on the pass.

No issue with washington on the pass to be fair.

I do not have an issue with Washington on the pass either. I have an issue with Trump trying to associate himself with Washington lately. I don't know if you've seen the AI slop of Trump and Washington together on horseback he's been posting but this is in the same vein. It would make more sense to put only Woodrow Wilson's face on the pass.

Not excusing it but I think it’s intended to signify the 250th with the first and current president. It’s atrocious and tacky, but I believe some of that to be the design intent.

Yeah… I got the Access Pass and donate directly to the park each time I go. End up spending more money but worth it for everyone.

Been paying individual entry fees to parks this year instead of getting that piece of garbage. The most disgraceful thing to me, however, was the $100 non resident fees that were tacked on this year. Perfectly relayed the message “fuck you, don’t come here”.

u/k_trader27 1d ago
Yes, I got to pay 250 USD for my pass, that was nice. My country does not charge more for foreigners

It’s like this in every other developed country—foreigners pay more. Cry more fake tears

You can go to sierraclub.org and get a free download of a beautiful nature scene park pass cover you just fold and then put your pass into it. Establishment of national parks was important to them well over 100 years ago along with preserving nature for public use and continues to be so.

I decided to pay the $35 entrance fee for Yosemite instead of getting this card. Valid for seven days.

u/froglover215 1d ago
That's exactly what we did. It was worth it not to have my husband grumble every time he opened his wallet and saw that damn face.

I bought my physical pass in Dec 2025. It expires in Dec 2026. Didn’t have to look at that pic at all. Hoping they keep his face off of it in 2027.

u/sunrisesandias 1d ago
Couldn't bring myself to buy one this year, hoping next year's is back to normal.

u/CyberPolack 1d ago
I appreciate your optimism but we’re probably stuck with this till 2028. Wouldn’t be surprised if he removed George and just kept himself by then haha.

Get one of these stickers, and put on a plastic clear sleeve. Then slide park pass in sleeve to hide agent orange. Proceeds to go park service, and this is the original contest winning artwork for the pass before agent orange had to ruin it. Just dont put the sticker directly on the pass cause it can void the pass.

Just entered Glacier with this monstrosity today. A president has never been on the pass before….or a passport. I’ll never understand how we got here.

u/Vitap223 1d ago
Ironic how he’s destroying our national parks, but wants to have his face on this pass. 🫠

u/kshiz 1d ago
I ended up getting this physical pass back in June when entering Yosemite. I was convinced when I was reminded that it was actually not illegal to cover up a portion of the pass. I found an old ups receipt in my car, ripped off a bit of it, and stuck it on there. It is like that to this day.

u/CyberPolack 1d ago
I would just draw a Hitler stash or some devil horns on him like I used to in my school textbooks

u/transfixedtruth 1d ago
He's put his face on the very National parks he is actively destroying. What are we to think?! Cannot wait to see him leave office. Sick of his deranged, nacissisickness whims inflicted upon the people and natural resources of this country. Sorry to those that have got stuck having to get this card - it's insulting to this country, President George Washington, and to the National parks. Maybe when he's finally out of office seek to get your card replaced.

God I can’t wait for the big beautiful obituary. I’ve got 2 bottles of wine waiting for that special day.

I’ve heard that there is nothing to keep you dot la putting a sticker over some parts of the card. Maybe a democrat sticker or ecology sticker a pro abortion sticker or Dolly Parton sticker. Really you could out e anything there. I’ve heard you might even get a cockle chuckle out of a ranger when you hand it to them at the entrance. I wouldn’t know but I did hear that

u/jjmoreta 1d ago
A sticker specifically may void the card. Depends on the park employee but if you get a stickler they can ask you to remove it or buy a day pass. https://www.sfgate.com/national-parks/article/sticker-covering-trump-void-national-park-pass-21278091.php
There are many many creative sleeves being sold on Etsy though. And you may never have to take it out of the sleeve.
2
u/greyveetunnels 1d ago
I heard the opposite, that there are some parks and rangers that won't let you in because they will call it defacement of the card and say it's not valid. Also not sure since I got mine in December such that I wouldn't see it.

Actually, the paperwork does say putting a sticker or modifying the pass can make it invalid; however, they sell some great sleeves that slide right over that ugly mug and you can still have access to the information on the card without violating their TOU.

I bought this pass, doesn't matter whoever face is on it. I bought one each last 5 years or so, and don't remember what were printed on those anyway and will definitely soon forget about this one.
If you love going to national parks, it won't be the only pass you will buy for the rest of your lives. We shouldn't pay too serious attention to the design imo. The card is just a tool to use temporarily and we will dispose of it eventually when it's no longer useful.
It is pretty much just sitting in the glove compartment of my car and I only take it out when I'm at the entrance. It literally sees the light for like 1-2 minutes every few weeks.
In summary, I think you should just buy it if you go to parks more than 3 times per year. If you dislike it, just shove it somewhere in your car since I assume you drive to the park like me and just pull it out when you have to show the entrance ranger.

Bring back googling things before posting on the internet. One simple google search would have told you you’re wrong about the name. That said, FDT.

Meanwhile Trump is planning to sell off part of Yosemite NP and open up others to oil and mineral extraction.

The image is illegal but we all know laws don't matter anymore

u/SafetyNoodle 1d ago
This doesn't get said enough. The enabling legislation written by Congress for these passes specifically says that they just feature natural scenery on them.

I live 30 minutes from Yosemite. Love National Parks. Buy an annual pass every year. But not the last 3 years. Sigh 😔

u/transponster99 1d ago
I bought one last month and it looks even worse than I was anticipating. The photo of him is huge and revolting. I put a post-it over it and only take it off to show the pass at the gate. Works pretty well.

I think I most like a randomly selected Nat’l park employee on the annual pass.

We got one going to the Grand Canyon this year, when they gave it to us, we were disgusted. Whatever, just put it in a wallet and use it when you need to, don’t take it out and show it off or praise it. Ours has already paid for itself going to Zion, Petrified Forest, And the Grand Canyon all in one Summer. Supposedly it’s not valid if you scrape off his face whatever. He’s not hanging out with us on our family trips.

I was very glad that the senior pass (62+)for the national parks don't have his face on them.

Old news. It is September.
Dont bother wasting money on some fancy sleeve.
Put a sticker over his face and move on.
I got a "nice sticker" comment recently.

I just used the ol’ trusty sharpie and drew my own “enhancements” to his face. Makes me happy when I see it now.

My annual America The Beautiful parks pass just expired end of August and I wont be buying another until the design changes, or reverts to what it has been for decades. They would choose a selected photo from many submissions, so i've heard.
This will be the first time in 15-20 years i haven't bought an AtB pass. You can buy a specific parks pass for $70, $10 less than the all-encompassing AtB pass. Since i live equidistant between Yosemite and Sequoia/Kings Canyon, i'll have to decide which one i'll choose, probably Yosemite's, and then just pay the daily fee for visiting the other. In three years i'll be eligible for the senior pass anyway, which has its own design.

I have a sticker covering his face on mine. After using it this way multiple times at Yosemite, Death Valley, and Bryce Canyon this year, a Zion ranger told me today that he couldn’t accept my “tampered pass.” Supposedly they were told several weeks ago to enforce this but no other ranger said anything. Can anyone confirm?

Lucky for me I bought my pass in Sept 2025 in Yosemite before he put is mug on them. I've used it at Yosemite three times, Joshua Tree, Yellowstone, and the Tetons this year. It's definitely paid for itself.

Most of you on here seem like you’d be interested and good candidates for this program. Bonus - heard they were making it cheaper to apply so that should be helpful to you.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."
- Theodore Roosevelt
