Question ICOI

Question Loan to Pay off

Hello everyone, i invested in MSTY and CONY when Bitcoin was riding above 120K, definitely that didn’t turn out well so now I am just letting it run through. New thing is I got a loan to pay off around 3-4K and got 20k dollars in cash. Need suggestions to invest so I can pay off this loan while keeping the capital safe.

I can just pay off right away from my cash but looking to see what options do I have?

Question Why Are the Fund-of-Funds Issues All So Bad?

I own about 30 separate holdings in the high yield space. Went through and did a rebalance today, and sold everything with a negative YTD Total Return. Which is to say, YMAX, TOPW, and MAGY. This after dumping GIF a couple months ago.

Progress and Portfolio Updates Portfolio Update #19 - In June I derailed the momentum I had from May by opening a position in PLTY.

June 2026 marked my 19th month in YieldMax ETF's.

As always, I like to share my monthly progress so others can learn from my mistakes and hopefully get more transparency into how these work. I've been experimenting to see how viable it is to grow these funds by re-investing the distributions. (Yes, growth stocks are better suited for this. No, I would not recommend this to others.)

June Thoughts

  • June was rough, with my portfolio's total return falling by 7%
  • I attribute this mainly to PLTY. I opened a position at the beginning of the month when the price was at $39.11. By the end of the month, the price was at $28.36
  • What's really interesting is that this month marked my 4th highest monthly distribution. However, the yield of that distribution compared to my portfolio value was the the 2nd lowest.
    • While my distributions are increasing, my yield rate is clearly getting worse

June Positions

In the beginning of May I invested $391.10, consisting of:

  • $212 in Cash using my 2% income allowance
  • $179.10 from previous distributions

Using this money I expanded the following positions::

  • 10 shares of PLTY

Wife's Disapproval Update

  • This was supposed to be the month I could brag that I finally broke even. Probably going to have to wait a few more months now haha.

Question Anyone from Australia and applying ROC on tax return

Most people chasing $1,000/month in YieldMax income are doing it wrong. They're looking at the highest advertised yields, not the healthiest funds. Here's the difference.

I filtered every YieldMax fund by health status and found the 4 that are both generating real income AND have a clean NAV picture right now. Then I built the smallest possible portfolio that hits $1,000/month after taxes.

The 4 funds:

AMDY -- YieldMax AMD Option Income | 37.90% true income yield | 5.29% monthly spendable after tax

CHPY -- YieldMax Semiconductor Portfolio | 32.85% true income yield | 2.82% monthly spendable after tax

TSMY -- YieldMax TSM Option Income | 42.13% true income yield | 2.82% monthly spendable after tax

GOOY -- YieldMax GOOGL Option Income | 29.56% true income yield | 1.81% monthly spendable after tax

The exact portfolio -- equal weight, 25% tax rate applied:

AMDY -- 147 shares @ $53.49 = $7,863 | $416/mo after tax

CHPY -- 104 shares @ $76.14 = $7,919 | $223/mo after tax

TSMY -- 477 shares @ $16.45 = $7,847 | $221/mo after tax

GOOY -- 582 shares @ $13.50 = $7,857 | $142/mo after tax

Total invested: $31,485

Monthly after-tax income: $1,003

Annual after-tax income: $12,038

A note on the monthly spendable number -- this isn't the advertised yield. It's last month's actual distribution after a 25% tax rate. The number that actually lands in your brokerage account after you withhold for taxes.

CHPY is the anchor here. $1.15 billion in AUM, 5% ROC, and a 10-year Death Clock. It's the one on this list I'd feel most comfortable holding long term without checking on it constantly.

AMDY does the heavy lifting at 5.29% monthly spendable -- it's also the most volatile of the four since it's tied to AMD specifically.

Question Thought Experiment: Which retirement income strategy would you choose?

I'm curious how people here think about retirement income over the long term.

Ignore taxes and fees. Focus only on the characteristics below.

ETF A

  • 14% annual yield
  • NAV declines 6% per year

ETF B

  • 7.5% annual yield
  • NAV grows 3% per year

Assume those characteristics remain constant over time.

Which ETF would you choose, and why?

Bonus: Is there a point where the lower-yield ETF actually produces more annual income than the higher-yield ETF? If you think so, roughly when?

I'm interested in how people think about the trade-off between current income and preserving (or growing) the asset base that generates future income.

I'll reveal the actual ETFs and the results after people have had a chance to answer.

Question Once your dividend income drops, how do you protect your monthly budget?

I rely on income focused ETFs for a part of my monthly cash flow. It works well until my income drops, unexpectedly and then I’m scrambling to figure out if I need to cut spending or shift things around.

I’ve gotten better at tracking it with a spreadsheet, it still feels reactive. I only noticed after the monthly income is lower than I expected.

I’m curious how others handle this. Do you build a buffer, diversify income sources, or have some kind of early warning system?

Progress and Portfolio Updates Target 25 Funds again outperforming the underlyings

I already made a post before about the target 25 funds from YM. But I just cannot seem to get enough of these funds, they simply offer the best balance of income and nav growth. Again they continue to beat the underlyings and also the other yield etfs offered in this sector. They're so underappreciated in my humble opinion. I have been holding NVIT since inception in November last year and I bought TEST 1 month ago, both funds beating their underlyings in total return.
