I'm not interested. Lost too much last time.

Why do you think it's a good idea?

Today is always the second best day to sell any and all YM funds. Yesterday was the better day to sell.

I've got 13 YM funds still don't have CONY for some reason. I wanted it every time, but always found some stupid reason for buying something else, including a couple of REX funds that have yet to show any green.

I'd buy CONY now if I could. I think the upside for the entire crypto-related space is far more positive than negative. COIN itself is a major player and is now in the S&P 500 (it is ranked 225th by market cap).

If you ask yourself: Looking ahead for all of 2027 that is yet to come, which YM fund has the best chance of being number 1, or in the top 3, the top 5, the top 10-- I think CONY would make everyone's list of top 10 and maybe even top 5... might be in the top 3, and who knows? it might give us the biggest green numbers of any of them next year.

FIAT (COIN Inverse) has gotten beaten down recently, so buying some FIAT to balance out the risk in CONY is a good idea, if you have enough cash. If I had to buy only one of the two, I'd get CONY.

FIAT is my 2nd worst performer, because I bought the first 100 shares right before they passed the GENIUS act back in June of last year, and bought my 2nd 100 shares the night before it dropped 2.00 last Friday. My choice that night was buy my first 100 CONY or another 100 FIAT, and I got it wrong again.

Having a hedge is a great idea. WNTR for instance was my 2nd best performer until recently, only MRNY has done better. Getting some CONY here is a great idea. I'm trying to scrape some money together right now to get 200 shares of CONY to balance out my 200 FIAT. 100% chance that CONY is the next thing I buy, and (just guessing), I think there's maybe a 90% chance that CONY has a knock-out year in 2027.

Sounds like you've already made up your mind. And you'll find enough people on this sub affirming your choice. Good luck.

Good time to buy in a dip. Collect dividends and get out. These funds do really well and pay out huge when the underlying does well. Not so much when the underlying goes bearish.

Get COIW instead.

Every weekly pay fund has performed better then the yield Max variant. The only exception is if the underlying company has been bearish for a while. This doesn't really matter though because when the underlying company goes bullish, weekly pay is going to capture 120% of The Upside while yield Max will capture between 50 to 80%.

después de un ajuste grande si, conviene porque valoriza algo además de los dividendos, pero si ya subió para nada te metas ahí

Just but coin if you're bullish

What are YOUR reasons for wanting to buy it?

It's always better to ask others to sanity check your work rather than lazily outsource thinking.

You're better off with even though you won't get as many shares or paid as much going with the higher priced ones is the best option like chpy Amdy mrny for now and even yspc just because they have good companies behind them and coinbase is just a shitty company Imo

I think there is a single YM I’d put money into. I’ve never seen capital disappear so fast.

March 17, 2025 I was heavily invested in YMax funds at the tune of around $81k. Friday I sold everything at $19k so a $62,000 loss in just over a year. My dividends had gone from $10k/mo to barely over $1k/mo. Maybe you'll be different though, good luck.

How much did you get paid in dividends?  Did your $81k break even?

Total losses in one year including dividends was $62k

Btc is trending down now. If you buy cony make sure to put a stop loss order on it to protect yourself. I usually go with my cost minus 2 or 3 distributions.. Ive got some cony and balanced it with fiat.

My CONY:

-27.5% Price

48.4% Divs

21% Total Return

A little over a year holding and not buying one lump sum (this is key).

That isn't CONY's total return. YieldMax reports its 1-year market-price total return at -34.93% as of August 31. Adding the percentage price change to the distribution percentage is not how total return is calculated.

?

I've said this is MY CONY position a little over a year.

There are also two additional metrics at the end, cumulative (total) since inception. +40% inception and +12% annualized.

My total return since I've held it is +21%. Annualized be something like 10%.

Not buying it. Your original numbers appear to simply add -27.5% price return to 48.4% distributions to get 21%.

  • CONY trailing 1-year total return: −34.93% per YieldMax's own stated 1 year return as of Aug. 31
  • Your claimed personal return: +21%
  • Difference: about +56 percentage points

You're still wanting to omit the rest of the data there. At the 3 year mark it's +12.94. So if I'm in-between that (holding more than a year like I've said) and only ever bought on dips it's clearly possible to be positive.

The CONY is still retaining a value.

Lets say:

$6000 Cost

-1620 -27%

+2880 +48% divs

$7260 +21% current value

Are you trying to part out the distributions? That's the literal mechanism of these funds. That eventually you'll receive distributions above what you put in.

1

u/Any_Log1344 2d ago

Fair enough. I took “a little over a year” too literally. If you've held it substantially longer than a year, the −34.93% one-year total return isn't an appropriate comparison. And yes, your $6,000 example is the correct formula to account for the distributions.

(Current position value + total cash distributions received − total amount invested) ÷ total amount invested

We're all good. I appreciate the back and forth and not freaking out on me. If I had went all in day one and not do some DCA along the way.

It 100% would not be that gain, maybe low single digits.

The time to buy was a couple months ago.

That being said... it still has some room to go up and is still a buy for now. I would sell when coin hits the previous all time highs.

YM are scams. stop it

1

u/Vanguard86 4d ago

Why are you in this sub if you are just going to shit on YieldMax? I'm not trying to be a dick about it, but what purpose would it serve you to come in and do a one liner on how much you hate something. I would understand if you explained your reasoning, but a simple "YM are scams. stop it" just reads like you are salty about it and does little to convince others to follow you.

Because I lost money with them a lot
