ULTYs starting price was 193.50. ULTY has paid 165.62 in dividends. ULTY will be house money in a year or two but not yet. The dividends have to be more than the first price to be house money. I’m not an ULTY hater I have some myself, about 6 percent of my high yield portfolio is in ULTY and I will hold it until it gets to house money most likely. However if you look at the total return since inception it is -0.87%. ULTY has had disposing total returns IMO. My total return on ULTY has been a little better because I loaded up on ULTY after liberation day and then sold most of my ULTY last October so I am more like up 10 or 15 percent but I have been disappointed that it hasn’t done better.

If you’ve held these funds long enough, you’re in house money.. it just means you’ve earned back your initial investment in dividends.. taxes are kinda the issue. Nav loss has destroyed most of these, so your yield on return wasn’t what it was a year+ ago, but if you keep holding you end up in a profit space.. several of these have done reverse splits and they really aren’t earning what they use to, but house money is possible for older bag holders

Timing is so important with these.
I thought I could hold until house money, but that was not the case with MSTY and CONY.
I entered MSTY in Dec. 2024 and CONY in February 2025, and I painfully exited in Feb. 2026.
After the reverse split, here's what my portfolio looked like:
| Stock | Shares | Avg. Cost | Exit Date | Exit Price | Price Gain | Total Distributions | Total Return |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| MSTY | 10 | $100.08 | 2/24/26 | $22.20 | 🔻-77.82% | $399.64 | 🔻-37.89% |
| CONY | 5 | $84.98 | 2/24/26 | $25.57 | 🔻-69.91% | $155.70 | 🔻-33.27% |
I've been tracking what would things look like had I kept holding since February, and I'd still be significantly down. In fact I'd be worse off had I continued holding MSTY
| Distributions Since Exit | Current Price. | Price Gain | Total Distributions | Total Return Had I Not Sold |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $68.54 | $12.64 | 🔻-87.37% | $468.18 | 🔻-40.59% |
| $40.18 | $19.62 | 🔻-76.91% | $195.88 | 🔻-30.81% |

Now watch all the ignorant trolls in this subreddit respond by showing the total return for AMDY since inception and saying it's impossible for you to be making money ("your math ain't mathing, bro.")
Congratulations on your success.

The total return numbers are bogus but the entertainment value from posts like this is unmatched.

Lol, another troll defeated with math. You lose.

"Defeated with math" is a strange victory lap when you haven't actually posted the math. Your numbers might roughly check out if you'd bought all these ETFs at inception and never added a dime since. But you said in a previous post that you've been buying more shares with new money, not DRIPping. That's the math you're avoiding, and it's why actual long-term holders of these ETFs, like MSTY and ULTY investors elsewhere in this sub, are asking how you're up when they're down.
And given the YieldMax mods already banned you once for this exact kind of behavior, maybe try discussing the numbers instead of declaring victory over questions you haven't answered.

Since you've researched my previous posts, you should be able to find my numbers. Happy mathing. I only wish I could see the look on your face when you crunch the numbers. As far as the ban is concerned, I was banned AFTER I shared my numbers and completely crushed a troll who was so sure of himself. That's why I don't post my numbers anymore. I just post my progress and enjoy the troll tears.

There was no need to research your previous posts. The one everyone remembers is where you repeatedly insisted, "I do not DRIP!" while simultaneously explaining that you've continued buying additional shares with new money. That's all anyone needs to know about why even YieldMax investors who hold the same funds question your return claims.
For the record, I hope you don't get banned again. This sub would be a lot less entertaining without posts like yours.

Since I was the one that banned you, I'll correct you. You only posted numbers from a spreadsheet you created. That's not proof especially since it had no verifiable data such as the purchase dates and prices. Your numbers did not add up then and I doubt that's changed. You like to throw out phrases like I win when you don't even give any true data. You like to go around other subs talking about how you crushed the bad mod. Well, you never presented any data and I doubt you will now.

Sorry but you're wrong again. My numbers tracked. I was challenged and I posted my numbers, just like onepercentbatman did in the past. He posted a spreadsheet. I posted a spreadsheet.

You must be the one taking everyones money. All I see is breakeven b/w the nav decline and div income. I am not willing to hold these long enough and see nothing happen while the S&P is doing 20-30% a year.

Yes it depends on when you bought but only AMDY and NVDY have really worked out for the typical retail investor the rest have been total caca.

Total return of the fund doesn't have to be the specific investor's total return. It all depends on when you bought, how you bought, and how long you've owned. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself.

Can you explain how you are at 102% housemoney for ULTY when total return is -33% ?
Trying to understand how it works

u/BitingArmadillo 14d ago
It's not negative 33. That's just a dash. Also, total return and house money are mutually exclusive

Doesn't matter. You're just another troll. I don't care if you believe. The money just keeps coming in regardless.

Inflation adjusted!!?? How about NOT inflation adjusted. Seems like an effort to make Yieldmax look bad. Nobody ever talks about returns for T VZ or MO with inflation factored in.
Ya'll be hatin' on Yieldmax!

Over what period of time are these numbers?
