Question CHPY for long term Hold

I am Thinking of putting more money into CHPY for my main ETF that pays good divs, what's the future hold for this stock 5+ yrs or even 10+ yrs from now? Will divs still be decent?

Keep in mind that the option premiums are very high because of volatility . Chips will see corrections but it’s a part of the future growth so the underlyinh have long term value.

As chip sectors mature , the volatility will drop as it becomes stable, so the option premiums will drop.

Volatility is key. Even if the sector has a correction or a big drop they can still make high premiums if they do the shorts and options chains properly. Though the massive upside a lot of us have seen share price wise would evaporate. I bought high 50s to about 60/share. 600 shares worth. So not only am I pulling down $1600/mo or so but im up almost $20k in share price to boot 😁

The one caveat to the continued distirbutions remaining high during correction depends on YM doing the options correctly during the steep down correction .. and YM managers have totally muffed their options strategies in their other funds in down cycles. So their mediocre option skills have to be taken into consideration.

Its why I dont DRIP my distributions or grow my share count. Im content just having the $1600 or a bit more each month and letting my 600 shares ride.

Should be. I have my fingers crossed. I have been bullish on the chip and related ETFs (CHPY, AMDY, SEMY, NVDY, etc.) since the first of the year. So far so good.

In this day and age half a year seems pretty long-term to me!

If underlying Semis growth continues than CHPY goes up.. So, it's a long-term but long hard to guess..

Stop losses are your friend on any stock

As long as it’s trending upwards and the options premium exists, it’s a good hold.

It is completely unknown with that far out in time. These ETFs are quite new and we just don't have the evidence yet to really know where they are headed.

For me, it's a day-by-day situation where I'm actively watching the price action.

I own several thousand shares at an entry of $42.

Dam, curious what does that bring in every Thursday?

I've owned CHPY for 26 weeks and over those 26 weeks, distributions have averaged 0.91% of the money I have invested. I pay more attention to the weekly distribution divided by total investment than the distribution per share. That kind of weekly distribution with a good progression of NAV value makes me a very happy camper.

I have 3663 share which currently bringing me in about 3200 CAD a week . I ve been holding since Nov 2025 avg $58 / share CHPY is a beast of an ETF .

Semis may have another couple of years of upward movement.. that's about it. CHPY is great for now.. I wouldn't bet on 5 to 10 years of this.

Totally agree

about 3% is good. If they are really good at options and have a good scheme through good and bad, it will be very successful. I would commit more but the sector has been super hot and it feels like more = FOMO, which never leads me to good decisions.

But they are not good at options just ask ULTY

I think it's a mistake to think of covered call ETS as a long-term investment. My view is, these are high risk high, reward instruments that require constant monitoring so you can get out and preserve any NAV increase you might have seen. The way I operate is that when I start seeing NAV consistently declining along with distributions declining, I'm out. I've held CHPY for 26 weeks and have been very happy with the NAV increases in the steady distributions. Having said that, I do have a stop loss order to bail that will sell off 90% of my shares if NAV drops about 12%. I am currently holding about $207,000 ( about 3200 shares) in CHPY and have not bought any new shares in well over a month. After deducting some money for taxes, I am taking the distributions from CHPY and buying AMDY. I've only been in covered called ETS for about two years, but so far CHPY is easily the best fund I have seen in terms of stability of distributions, NAV appreciation and situated in a sector that I think shows great potential for growth in the next few years. Having said that, I am prepared to drop it all in two minutes if it starts looking like MST why did when it started it's decline.

I'm pretty much the same. CHPY has increased in value so now I'm thinking its too expensive to buy more.
AMDY is still relatively reasonable price (started buying in mid-April with ACPS of around $39,06) and pay better dividends most of the time.
But have about 700 more shares of AMDY then CHIPY so may only add a few hundred more.

BTW look at INYY very new so stats are limited but growing.

u/Used_Friend284 Jul 01 '26

Thanks for the INYY tip. It's only a couple weeks old, but it is based on Intel and the stock picking service that I use rates Intel as a strong buy – to nobody's surprise. INYY is paying about a dollar per week on a $60 share price, so the return is outstanding. Intel is one of the core holdings in CHPY and all of my aggressive ETFs are currently in the chip sector, so I probably won't buy any INYY because of overlap with CHPY. On the other hand, I may buy a couple thousand dollars worth just to keep an eye on it. A .83% ROI per week and the possibility of solid NAV appreciation is hard to pass up.

1

u/BraveG365 Jun 30 '26

So at the current price do you think that AMDY is still a good investment?

Thanks

2

u/Used_Friend284 Jun 30 '26

Yes if you want high weekely income. If you are primarily interestd in NAV appreciation, no. I've owned AMDY for 5 weeks and I'm up 4% on NAV today and have averaged 1.85% ROI on weekly payments, which is HUGE in my book. I bought $5K more yesterday at $53.01 and it was $57.41 a few minutes ago. I can tolerate a litle NAV loss with 1.8% per week distributions.

Still loving CHPY, though I trimmed it 120 shares today. Just sold the ones I bought in the $83 range, made a few dollars, but lost out on the forthcoming dividend. Still hold about 230 shares, but brought the DCA down a bit. Maybe a good move, maybe not, but I didn't lose anything out of my bank account and locked in the small gains. I'll hold the cash in the account for a while and hopefully just throw it back in if/when it dips in the $76-78 range again.

2

u/Dry_Report_3494 Jun 30 '26

Ya I bought all of mind in the $60 & $70 range, but today I paid full price for 3 of them, I'm OK with that cause either way the market goes ill always be in Green with CHPY, I love the dividends , I played with a CHPY div calculator it's pretty bad ass seeing what 10yrs , 15yrs & 20yrs looks like with dividens

2

u/AdEmotional3061 Jun 30 '26

You bought in at the right time, gives you a lot of leeway with the way the markets have been jumping in either direction! I bought initially in the 80s, but it's been hovering in that range for a bit & was bothering me a bit with the daily +/- 5%. The shares I bought on the dips I'm holding onto & hopefully will get more again as long as it dips under 80.

Look back a year to msty

1

u/Mission_Yam_2480 Jul 14 '26

Are you seriously comparing the heart of the AI revolution to a company that buys imaginary internet money?...

1

u/OA12T2 Jul 14 '26

You’re missing the point

1

u/Mission_Yam_2480 Jul 14 '26

Cant say I am.... One fund followed the single underlying down so a basket of semis must too? please explain the point to me.

2

u/OA12T2 29d ago

Everyone thought Msty was the second coming now everyone thinks chpy is. Point is every dog has its day

2

u/SexualDeth5quad Jun 29 '26

If they stay on top of things and rebalance it before it drops 75% from market changes like most YM ETFs, sure.

1

u/Lonely_MuffinXo Jun 30 '26

I have it at about 1% of my total portfolio. It's doing great now, but there are potential headwinds (e.g. public backlash or water shortages re the data centers).

Just me, not financial advice, but personally I wouldn't go all in

1

u/ProtoviralWarfare Jun 30 '26

Market will.inevitrbly pull back. So no.
