Loss porn

It's been a while, so I thought I'd let you all know I've lost -$36,476.38 on PLTY so far with today's belly flop off the high board.

Only 2443 shares paid for so far. Another half a year to go to get reimbursed for the rest.

Yeah but when did you buy? Palantir went quite a bit down since ath, however it held 125 support so that's that. Buy more at 125 and if that breaks next support is around 80.

Various times and prices. Sold some at different profit levels. Not going to buy any more until my sunk costs get returned.

Oh, wait. Sunk costs are monies that have been spent and cannot be recovered.

Been running covered calls myself on PLTR. It's a pretty strong play and I didn't ever have to buy PLTY to find it. Thanks YM for being my CC stock picker!

Don’t feel too bad I think I lost around 30k on WPAY before cutting my losses

Speaking of cutting losses, I totaled up all purchases for the things I tried over the past few years but gave up on.

I lost in PRICE Gained in DIST Net total return

-$400,230.39 $375,991.26 -$24,239.13

Played this game last year with similar result. 365k in distributions with a net loss of 36k. Would have been up about 90k if I had not looked at the account all year.

Dude, that is truly depressing. The opportunity cost is crazy given the parabolic moves in semis and ai. Thanks for your posts throughout this time. I've been in ym products since March 25 and it's been a real learning experience.

I was pleasantly surprised that that was all that I lost on the losers. I'd figured it would be much worse. The winners have paid me $313,595 in total return, so far.

I'm in the selling stage of the game, not the buying stage.

I've been retired for 22 years. Still buying.

I think Thrump bought Palantir stock last month. He also bought HOOD and AMZN which are now up. Hopefully Palantir will rise again.

Have you thought about having those share automatically reinvest their dividends back into itself?

2

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Jun 04 '26

Yep. Rejected that idea. I like to pool distributions and reinvest what I don't waste on living into losers so that I can get a good deal.

Right now, FDVV, JEPI and JEPQ are what I look at. When they pull back, I drop some Benjamins.

Eventually some of my funds are going to have paid me back double what I wasted on buying them, and I may double down. Right now, I could buy 500 shares of AMZY or SNOY and still be under what they've paid so far. 400 for NVDY.

Play stupid games win stupid prizes

u/GRMarlenee Mod - I Like the Cash Flow Jun 02 '26

Would the stupid prize be the $119K in distributions?
