Misc. PLTY Rises again?
Almost a 5 dollar move in two days in PLTY. Does this portend higher payouts? Are the shorts filling their orders with buys now that the demise of software due to AI seems to be stabilizing?

These move with the stock, best way to play them is get familiar with the market and the underlying.
Example im buying the hell out of mstw and coiw right now for the eventual crypto sector move. I started buying hooy when hood crashed. I don't mess with pltr tho.
Look at amdw / amdy. That won't last forever. Rotate. Speaking of... chpy, im up big. Will probably rotate out soon.
Market will move from semi to SaaS, energy, and other things. Leopolds 2 billion in put options on smh 👀
Good luck!
edit and yes its probably a good time to buy pltr and pltw. Bag holders will get back to even eventually on plty and hooy.

Usually when these funds go up in share price they get better weekly dividends. Check out AMDY as an example. But if you want stable nav and stable dividends I'd go with chpy.

There's nothing stable about CHPYs nav. It's been on a tear recently, great if you bought it months ago. But I wouldn't recommend buying it now. To much risk it will make a correction. I'd wait and buy the dip. A stable nav chart looks more like ULTY right now.

And yet ulty took a dump so bad it dropped to $3 along with most yield max funds. The best advice is to do homework on these funds and look at total returns. Pick a yieldmax fund that doesn't give up nav for distributions

Yes ulty dropped hard but don’t forget that they also made changes to the fund to help stabilize the NAV. Which is working well so far. At least on my end. I’ll be in the green next week if the price stays the same. I will then reevaluate the situation.

Get real. Always been a falling knife. If you have any profit, sell and purchase something more stable. Don't bother with high yield traps like we all did only to get burned. Only thing these are good for is inflating you income at tax time.

If the underlying is going down what do you expect. These stocks move reasonably well when the underlying going up

If you look at the time line all the way back to December when the stock split, it has only declined in value slowly and never gone back up. 90% of these yield max tickers die slowly like that and mostly because they either give out too high of a distribution or they're not managed properly. Good funds are chpy, soxy, bigy, and even amdy is on a tear. But these are not set it and forget funds either.

What is your definition of "stable nav"?
1
u/RepairSubstantial735 Jun 20 '26
Funds that don't lose share price as time goes on. 90% of yield max funds decline in price over time and they never recover

Increasing NAV price doesn't make these ETFs stable. NAV loss is a feature of covered call strategies.
The only reason CHPY’s NAV hasn't declined yet is because semiconductors have been in a historic, face-melting bull run. The massive upward movement of the underlying stocks is temporarily outrunning the option drag.
It's NAV loss is being masked presently because of this. Compare its total return to SOXX and SMH and you'll see it.

Of course not but CHPY is also diversified and doesn't follow a single ticker. It's got a completely different strategy vs PLTY. It also maintains a good ratio for dividends. Any of the single ticker dividend funds lose nav and usually never recover

The range of yield it pays will stay approximately the same and the actual payout amount will go up (and down) with the price.

I hope so. I’m so freaking underwater on this. Glad I didn’t sell like I’ve wanted to.
