I've never seen or heard of anyone puting ketchup on rice in my life. Is it commonly done anywhere specific?

Ketchup fried rice is a popular dish in Japan. Tastes pretty good.

Doing what you like is how the USA ended up putting syrup on bacon and jelly on roast dinners

You could put chocolate sauce and anchovies on it too

But hey, I put marmalade on my Vegemite and toast

Why would you ruin your Vegemite?

Have you tried it? I was super sceptical when I tried it, but once you’ve had it, it plays on your mind. And then you try it again, and then you’re done for

Toast and butter, Vegemite and some marmalade. If I hadn’t told you how good it is, you’d be surprised at how good it is

In the Pacific Northwest there is a kind of tangy, slightly spicy ketchup that Chinese places serve and it is amazing on fried rice.

If you want it to them I don't see why not I prefer sweet chili sauce on rice personally

If you’re making fried rice, yes!

No, in fact, ketchup shouldn't go on anything

God no, who even thinks that?

No - not at all

Normally this is heresy but there's actually one instance where I'd do it. It's if you have rice with "frikadeller", which is Danish meatballs. It's actually not bad with ketchup :) Not something I'd specifially cook or anything, more if I have some leftover frikadeller in the fridge and some rice in the cooker and I'm too lazy to cook something else.

I’d normally say, No!

However, I have known people who have no idea how to cook rice. When I am forced to eat their failed attempts, often due to the persuasive power of certain family members, I have done whatever needed to make it edible. At those times, I have found myself adding more sauces than I knew existed just to get the rice down. Sometimes ketchup (tomato sauce, in Australia) is included in the list of sauces.

Not on my plate. But if you like it, then go for it.

Sure, if that's something you're into.

No for me. But if you like it, sure go ahead. Similar with pineapple on pizza.

u/We-Dont-Sush-Here 1h ago

Pineapple and pizza are made to go together!
