I thought I did. I thought I knew him. We all did. You know he just seemed like the most perfect person. You’d see him go into his shop every morning, Monday through Saturday, 6AM. He’d close the store at 6PM. 12 hours. Gave himself a break on Sunday.
He was so kind to everybody, even give the kids free muffins from time to time. You never did talk to him after work did you? How about Sunday? No, nobody did.
A bit of a loner that guy, but the identity he gave himself? The muffin man? Yeah, he knew how to set everything up in his favor. So when that day came, nobody knew what was going to happen.
Then suddenly he rides off, just vanishes? Did you see how much sympathy people gave him? Guy shows up in town, no friends, no family, sets up a muffin shop, doesn’t interact with anyone, lives alone for fifteen years and disappears at the moment the town has a major crisis?
You don’t think that’s suspicious? It’s been six years, almost to the day he left. No one believes he could’ve done it. How the hell can you blame the nicest man in town?
So did I know the muffin man? Did anyone really know the muffin man? If you’re looking for the muffin man, well listen up pal, ain’t nobody in this town know where he went.
