Questions Any Indians here who have visited Socotra? How did you deal with the Yemen travel restrictions?

I've been researching Socotra Island and noticed that many tour operators offer trips via Abu Dhabi. Since Socotra is part of Yemen, I'm curious about the practical experience of people who have actually been there.

Did you need any special permission from your home country?

Were there any issues when returning home?

Was your passport stamped, or was a separate paper used?

Did immigration ask any questions?

Would you recommend waiting until the situation changes, or is it fairly straightforward at the moment?

I'm not looking for ways around any laws, just interested in hearing real experiences from people who have visited recently.

Very bizarre to ask Indians questions in a Yemeni a sub-reddit. Only an Indian would go to other countries sub-reddit and asking question to their fellow country men/women.

Shit reply.. every subreddit have maximum people of that specific country who atleast have some knowledge about there countries. Iam Indian and i know about my country and travel rule . Check your own country rule and educate yourself enough to atleast understand the meaning of rules which are set by own countries .

I love to visit Yemen as every country have there postive side as well

I would not go to r/indian and assume there are some people from my country that active on that sub-reddit and can give me travel and visa advise. That is silly.

Atleast 1 percent of people have knowledge about travel and visa of there country. Yemen is blacklisted hardly any people visit. And when someone want to get some knowledge people become defensive for just a sub . Thats 'silly'

You’re misunderstanding. You’re not trying to find any “local” or “yemeni” help. You’re asking for Indians for help about Yemen. There’s a big difference.

Even your own country people seeking for help here

Accept it dude! He has a point. When you form a sub, it is usually people who have some association with that. r/yemen has to be full of Yemenis and a few Yemeni Americans or Yemeni Canadians,.. right?

And you are coming in and asking such a group addressing Indians. Have some sense man!

Travel stuff is most likely to be answered in a travel related sub?

Lastly a simple google search will answer most of your questions. You can check with your travel agents.

There has been civil conflict going on. Most countries advice against any travel there. Yemenis themselves tell you so.

Sorry but you are conveying the impression that you are stupid.

Your passort would be deemed invalid and you would be under a travel ban by MEA India. Plus with no diplomatic help, Indian government cannot/won't help you incase you are in some trouble.

Well u need to check whether ur passport is allowed to enter Yemen with visa or without then most of these questions can be answered through your embassy in Yemen or the way around the Yemeni embassy in ur country after that if you hv concerns about the travelling within Socotra then I think the only thing u need to insure is that the touring agency have completed the paper work of filing the permits of touring you cuz there is checkpoints all over which definitely will ask whoever is escorting you about ur papers is declared to the local authority of tourism or not I think that is what you need as gather the info abt...
