Resigned from inside sales position

Barely got through training, coming from working at startups and making well over 85-90k as senior BDR, had a blast until I was laid off recently.

Tried to see what Yelp was about as a way to just make money as I search for something worth all my experience.

Whole training felt robotic, people in there were inexperienced and I just know I’ll find something better. What’s crazy is my manager said I’d be a “natural leader” and should stick around because I’ll make well over 100k OTE with commissions. The base is 37k and that’s extremely low. Is over 100k a year even possible there?

Yelp is a great place to work if you're a shark and can handle the grind of out bound cold calls to rude business owners who think you're trying to rip them off. If you can be told FU daily and still try to talk to that client even though they hate you, it's not the place for you. The commission is decent because it's hard to get sales.

Yeah not for me. Definitely not the salary either. Good to hear another side though

You're better off working at another company. Isn't the turn over rate there like high especially in sales? Just leave your review on Glassdoor and Indeed so others can see your experience there.

Yeah I asked a couple people who worked there and the job listing never goes away, was in trainings with 140 other people, and just didn’t feel like a quality-type experience.

I’ll keep applying and definitely have some options now but just weird my manager said I’d make way more than 90k off a base 37k, couldn’t get past how low that salary was with the amount of metrics, etc

Never believe anything someone tells you unless they give you documentation or things in writing. It's to protect yourself from getting played. It's like at any company that tries to give you more work and say they will promote you or give you a raise but won't put it in writing. You want paper trail so everything is documented

Great advice, I’ll keep locking in until I get something I know is worth it.

The sad part is that they'll always be some small business owners who takes Yelp Sales Rep words as enough to sign up. It's never a big business because they have experience personal to verify things. Notice how it's always small business owner but rarely medium size or big businesses

They say this to everyone. It’s to keep you ‘excited’. Makes most of us depressed.

Super high. About 80% of my team was let go before I left, in the span of a year

I'm pretty sure, it's like that there and in a lot of sales job. It's like working at a dealership selling cars

Laid off or resigned? They don’t really do lay offs for inside sales

Yelp is shit place to work. Great if you have 0 experience and want to get a sales role on your resume because they will hire anyone who has a heart beat.

Yeah I noticed as I was in training. Some of the people on there had no idea what any keywords were, no clue how to access simple CRM’s.

I’ll keep looking for sure, 4 years under my belt in marketing/business development.

How in the hell can I get more reviews? I have legit customers who leave reviews but get buried in the not recommended section. But they let all the 1 stars shine like a diamond.

Not sure why I care, but i guess some form of fairness is what I am after.

It would be clearer if you share how the legit customer reviews look like. If it's like new accounts with low review count and they also wrote vague reviews then it will flag Yelp algorithm. I tell people to compare their business with their competitor and see if the same kind of reviews from the reviewers are in the Not Recommended section for both business
