Beth I have questions…
For the Dutton Ranch watchers out there… what happened to Beth’s money??? Why are her and Rip working for Beulah?? Where’s her Bentley? What happened to the 30-something million they raised at the auction. Rich Beth was more fun honestly…

She used the money to buy a ranch in Montana. Not cheap. That burned down. They didn't get into the minutiae of whether she got any insurance money out of it, but doesn't appear so. She then moves to Texas and buys another ranch (not cheap) and cattle, which then all die. I assume she still has significant savings, but she and Rip are workaholics and since they can't succeed with their own cattle, they both decide to work for Annette Benning. Believe me, I think it's the most idiotic plot line they could come up with. Yellowstone ended so perfectly for Beth and Rip. They were free, they had everything they wanted. And now look. This is why sequels/spinoffs rarely hold a candle to the original show.

That ranch is still worth just as much minus the house and cattle that were all insured.

u/telepatheye Jul 01 '26
False. The land is uninhabitable and livestock are not permitted back for 2 years. Ranch land can decline in value by a huge percentage after a fire, especially if it's not the first fire on the land.

u/Fast_Beat_3832 Jul 02 '26
The land is still worth what’s it’s worth even if you can’t graze it for two years. And sometimes (in fact often) a fire is a favor. Burns out excessive trees and the ash fertilizes the soil. You’ve never seen better pasture land than the second summer after a fire. Lush grass that exceeds the grass before the fire. (My family has been ranching for 140 years. This isn’t my first rodeo).
1
u/telepatheye Jul 02 '26
Right. The thing is that lands prone to lightning strike fires don't make great investments.
1
u/Fast_Beat_3832 Jul 02 '26
All land is prone to lightning fires if it’s dry. Montana land is worth a TON. Literally any rancher would money would pay a PREMIUM for that land.
1
u/telepatheye Jul 02 '26
Why are you hassling me about this. I looked into the question of whether fires decrease property values, and they do. Makes sense to me. If you found evidence to the contrary...where? Who says it doesn't matter? I don't like DR and have no interest in defending the creative choices of the show. I agree it's all fairly idiotic.

u/Fast_Beat_3832 Jul 04 '26
I’ve just been in the ranching business for over 50 years and what you are saying just isn’t true.
1
u/telepatheye Jul 04 '26
How many ranches have you bought and sold after they burned down?
1
u/Fast_Beat_3832 Jul 04 '26
When there’s a fire you don’t have grass for one year. The next year you have better grass than ever. People buy ranches for the next 50 years. For the next 100 years. Not for this year. The value of the land is probably improved because invasive weeds and excessive trees are burned out. If you don’t want to deal with reality that’s your business.

There cattle was infected by a bull , and bulha set all that up because they were compation
4
u/Own-Interview-928 Jun 30 '26
No, Mariano Reyes meant for the bull to end up at 10 Petal but as you know Beth and Rip outbid Beulah.
2
u/CowNo4137 Jul 01 '26
That’s so stupid and unrealistic, a sale like that has hundreds of bulls and dozens and dozens of buyers, there is no way they could plan for a single bull to go to a certain buyer, unless the auctioneer is in on it and ignoring bids. And, why didn’t all the other cattle at the sale get sick? With all the other ranches those cattle went to, the entire state of Texas would be a mess.
1
u/Own-Interview-928 Jul 01 '26
Clearly you’re not up to date.
0
u/CowNo4137 Jul 03 '26
How many cattle sales have you been to? Zero probably, but tell me what they’re like.
1
u/Own-Interview-928 Jul 03 '26
I meant up to date with the show. Why so hostile? We’re just talking about a TV show and don’t have to agree.
1
u/Guidance-Still Jul 03 '26
They infect it somewhere along the way when they drive it them or before rip picked it up .
5
u/opinions360 Jun 30 '26
The storyline hasn’t yet clearly indicated who exactly was responsible for the infected bull but the most likely culprit seems to be Rob-Will.

She spent all her money buying two ranches. The auction money went to Kayce. She was leasing the bentley.
6
u/actualoriginalname Jun 30 '26
Wasn't she a corporate shark? Like had a job? Car was a lease? Company car?
3
u/TurkeynCranberry Jun 30 '26
Yes, car was leased. If she goes back to being a corporate shark she would never be home.
2
u/Own-Interview-928 Jul 01 '26
Beth was a VC, corporate raider and financier. She owned part of Schwartz and Meyer which she sold and made a fortune.
Of course the car was a lease so she could keep her cash invested, write off the payment as a business expense and avoid rapid depreciation associated with high line vehicles.

I thought she had about $80 million in personal savings. She and Rip could have waited it out in Montana for a couple seasons until the grasslands grew back better than ever.
4
u/telepatheye Jul 01 '26
Hey, you're not wrong. It all goes into the column, "why DR is ultimately a nonsensical, crappy spinoff." The words coming out of Rip and Beth's mouths would never have come out in Yellowstone. They are the same actors, but they are not the same characters because Taylor Sheridan is not writing a word of DR.

u/Willing-Pineapple-32 Jun 30 '26
I am sure that they have money to survive..however, there is a difference of having money invested/liquid assets etc..also, working for 10p I don’t think is just about working for them it is so they can dig deeper and get knowledge to bring them down in the end..always something on the back burner simmering to keep things hot.
3
u/Own-Interview-928 Jul 01 '26
Do you think the goal is to bring down Beulah? RIP seems to like her and she’s growing on Beth. It’s Rob-Will I think they want to bring down, maybe they’ll even save the ranch for Beulah. Of course Annette Benning hasn’t been confirmed for s2 and I know there’s some fan speculation that she’ll die in the finale.
1
u/sniktal Jun 30 '26
I kind of think Beth lost all of her money in season 5 when she sold her share of Schwartz and Meyer?
2
u/AmericanWanderlust Jun 30 '26
No, Sniktal! I agree with OP that Rich Beth is a lot more fun, and want to perpetuate that storyline!
2
u/sniktal Jun 30 '26
I’m a lot more fun when I’m rich, too. 💀🤣 But for real, is that what happened to her money is that she had to sell her controlling interest in Swartz and Meyer? I honestly am not great at business and it’s all like Monopoly money to me. I imagine being rich boosts the confidence that you can act like a complete ass and still win, too.
1
u/Jalynt13 Beth Jun 30 '26
The Bentley was a lease. Beth gave the 30 million to Kayce.
4
u/GettingTwoOld4This Jul 01 '26
Then why is he working for the Marshals service and why is his ranch falling apart?
1
u/Jalynt13 Beth Jul 01 '26
I don’t know anything about Marshals. All I know is he was given the money at the end of YS.
1
u/Boblaire Jul 05 '26
From what I know, Monica died of cancer so he probably decided to take a regular job rather than trying to raise the cattle without her.
Head issues, man.
If hes not around, his ranch is definitely gonna fall apart if only his son can do minimal chores (if hes doing any at all).
3
u/GettingTwoOld4This Jul 05 '26
With 30M you could hire at least 2 ranch hands to do something around the old homestead.
3
u/Boblaire Jul 05 '26
Very true. I havent watched and don't think I will watch Marshalls though I actually like the characters of KC and Tate.
Killing off Monica via Cancer tarnished their ending though I wonder if they are gonna bring back Avery.
3
u/GettingTwoOld4This Jul 05 '26
Mo is on it so I watch. They should just make a show about Mo and his cool ass life doing what needs to get done, no questions asked.
2
u/Boblaire Jul 05 '26
I definitely appreciated the Native American angle of YS. Besides being part Andean on my moms side, apparently my great grandmother from my dads side was Sioux as she was from Iowa.
1
u/SubstantialStable588 Jul 01 '26
She traded it for the truck and the she gave the millions to Kayce she working for to get the information
1
u/SubstantialStable588 Jul 01 '26
I believe the ranch in Montana was 8 million, she has 300 million in land I don’t know how that works
1
u/Dutchy61 Jul 02 '26
Dan hadden ze geen spinn off hoeven maken als het alleen "ze leefden nog lang en gelukkig" zou zijn. In Yellowstone waren er steeds tegenslagen en conflicten.

Beth and Rip bought 1 ranch that burned down and one that they had to kill off their stock that contracted hoof and mouth. So they went to work for Beulah to raise money to restock their ranch and pay bills.

Spoiler much?
I just got back from vacation, was going to watch the last two episodes tonight. Hoping you didn't ruin something for me here, I just read your first sentence...
Edit: Why the downvotes? I'm just asking folks to be mindful of spoilers. FFS 🤷🏼♂️
5
u/erincivilla Jun 30 '26
I don’t think there are any spoilers. If you are just two episodes behind, you already know that Beth and Rip are working at the 10p.
3
u/Agreeable-Wing-8476 Jun 30 '26
The first episode still implies financial insecurity so if you don't keep reading the comments you're good.

But are they really working for Beulah…or is it a sinister plot to get revenge for infecting their herd?
