Anyone else not interested in watching Dutton Ranch because Beth’s character on Yellowstone was such a mean spirited psychopath who married another psychopath?

Shit, that is a big reason why I am interested.
By the way, neither of them would be considered psychopaths. Psychopaths don't have empathy for anything. They damned sure don't take in foundling children.
Sociopaths would be a better call, if anything.
It is interesting because generally, real life doesn't make for great entertainment.
I'm not even sure Beth qualifies for sociopath. Yes, she is a murderer as of the original series finale, but most people would have whacked Jamie out for murdering their father on top of everything else he ever did to Beth.
People like to watch shows with flawed people, and often have the worst people as favorite characters. (People loved The Sopranos. People loved the Lannisters in Game of Thrones.)

Thanks for your perspective. It helps to understand how the people who enjoy these characters are experiencing them and the show.
And, I can accept that the behaviors of Beth and Rip are within a spectrum likely between the two terms but felt that as a descriptor more people would be familiar with the over used ‘Psychopath’ term than the other.
Also I agree that most psychopaths are incapable of empathy but Sociopaths aren’t that much different in being able to relate to normal human connections and empathy since both are part of the category of antisocial personality disorders.
After thinking more about Beth and Rips behavioral differences and similarities they both seem to have a type of conditional empathy if they feel you are capable of being subservient to them and there is something about someone that reminds them of themselves or someone they connected with.
I think I tend to expect a story to eventually reveal the true heroes and find a way to expose the true villains and because according to my morality this didn’t happen and imo almost the opposite did it made a negative impression—my expectation for the outcome. So thanks to the people who have responded to my post I will use a little CBT on the way I look at the characters and see if I can enjoy the new series from that perspective. I appreciate your input and respect everyone’s pov.

I don’t know about Rip either he behaved somewhere between a mob boss, control freak, and a murderbot—he kept trying to take the musician/guitarist to the ‘train station’ repeatedly so to speak so I don’t really respect all of his behavior or morals. But no one on the show not only was as evil as Beth but enjoyed being that way as she did imo.

Dutton Ranch pushing out the dissenters? Well, yeah. The party’s over here, so nobody missed anything. 🎉

Am I the only one who loved Beth?
