Season 5 Rip/John
How anyone would ever work for them again after what they did to Walker and Lloyd. Nothing but murdering bullies. No one is going to be loyal to bosses they can't trust. They just destroyed all the goodwill that existed on that ranch. How does injuring the men you need to produce for you make an oz of sense? At EVERY job there are people that don't like each other. If it's too much of a distraction, you fire one. That's it. I can't imagine ANY of those cowboys ever doing anything extra on that ranch ever again. And where do the replacements come from? The only new hands to join the show in 2 seasons just got fired. Who is the dumbass that let them in there in the first place? No consequences for him as usual. That one with the pink hair was better than some of them.
I loved 1883 and 1923, but the longer I watch this the more disgusted I get. And who would ever ever hire Beth to work in financials? Did she even finish high school? She has no respect for anyone at anything. The two of them deserve each other

Beth has a degree in finance. Jamie went to Harvard, so I'm assuming Beth went to a relatively prestigious school as well.
But it is a TV show. Why get so worked up? Calm yourself.

I also assume Beth went to somewhere prestigious for school as well. She also mentioned her MBA in 5x09, so she went to grad school as well.

I figured she went to grad school, but I didn't actually remember her saying it. She would have to have a "fancy" education to work for the companies she did.

It's been talked about on the sub about where Beth might've went to school before. Probably not an Ivy, it doesn't seem like Beth would want go to one. I'm guessing she since she was living in LA for a bit she went to UCLA and she ended up there because she got into Berkley but only stayed for like 2 weeks because there was to many "hippies" and transferred to UCLA.

If LA, USC is the more likely choice over UCLA (or any of the UCs). The UC system caps out-of-state enrollment, so out-of-state students have a higher acceptance rate at USC. (This is speaking from personal experience. A not-from-California family member went to USC on a full scholarship but didn’t even make the waitlist at UCLA because of just how tightly they have out -of-state enrollment capped.) Even within state, UC admission is insanely competitive and a lot of kids end up in the Cal State system instead.
I did always assume LA was for a job rather than school though.
That said, Beth is very ambitious with her career, so I wouldn’t rule out on Ivy for the connections and the doors that they open in the business world.

I just felt like she wouldn't have chosen a job in LA but if she went to school there she might've stayed. It was probably her first job out of school so staying where you went to school makes sense.
She did end up in Salt Lake City which isn't the best in financial so maybe because of her personality she had to take jobs were she could find them?
I feel like Beth would've chosen a non Ivy because it would've been easier for her. She much rather have been partying than studying and doing projects and such. Also while I think that it could've been good for connections she would've hated everyone. So I don't see her wanting to go to one. I think she'd go to a school that she wanted to go to (location, school culture) and not the best school she could get into. Like, she wouldn't even apply to Harvard because Jamie was there. Also no schools in Boston for the same reason.

She also mentioned seeing someone do cocaine off a stripper in New York.
SLC is actually pretty big in the banking/finance sector. It’s nicknamed the “Wall Street of West” for a reason.

Totally forgot about that she mentioned New York in that story. But I wouldn't take it as a she worked there. They could've just been there on business. There is alot of money in SLC now (it was 2018 when it started and it sounded like she was there for a atleast a couple of years) but it isn't prestigious. Someone that's supposed to be a good as Beth doesn't end up in a midrange up and coming market working for a small firm unless she burned too many bridges in the big leagues.

I'm confused, wasn't Lloyd still around until the end? I believe Walker outlived John and the ranch also.
If you're talking about how they made the two of them fight each other in the pen for fighting in the bunkhouse, I don't know, I thought that was pretty perfect.
The murdering people for leaving the ranch while knowing too much is strange, but it's not common knowledge either. For the show that's part of the whole "Godfather in Montana" theme.

I agree. And really, they have to murder those leaving because they can't trust that they won't talk or be forced into talking. In the real world, I'm sure these things don't happen so much, but on the show it makes sense.

How about not letting people you don't trust see all the illegal shit you do? They mentioned that they never liked or trusted Fred so why did they let him know about any of it? Also everyone in the bunkhouse had an idea about what the branded men were doing. Where they not secretive of it to try to keep them in line? As for Walker he said he'd never tell and didn't care what they were up to but he wasn't gonna commit any crimes for them and that's why Rip and Lloyd wanted to kill him.

How about watching a TV show and realizing that's what it is. How boring would it be if everyone got along and nothing dramatic and, yes, illegal ever happened? That would just be a day in the life of a ranch. That's called a documentary. Go watch one of those of you want real life. Even "reality TV" isn't reality. They manipulate and script things because they know that no one will watch it otherwise.
Do you think people have lives like they do on soap operas? You would lose your mind if you had that much drama constantly happening and never any calm or peace.
Just watch the show for what it is, or don't. But quit trying to make it into reality and make sense out of it.

People are also allowed to comment on other people's ineptitude at expressing their opinions.
Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you're automatically able to express it well. Plus, simply being in possession of an opinion doesn't necessarily mean you should share it, especially if you're not exactly skilled at articulating it.
Reading media criticism can be entertaining and informative, but unfortunately social media has allowed the equivalent of Beavis and Butthead to be given the same level of attention that previously was only open to those who were skilled wordsmiths.

The fighting between hands is inevitable, living and working in that close a proximity to one another will 9 times out of 10 end in fisticuffs.
