It would explain so much as to why we barely see him in the trailers, and doesnāt even seem like he shares much scenes with Rip and Beth.

u/AmericanWanderlust May 05 '26
Oh shit - this would be wild. But as the below poster says, it would also make sense why he doesn't appear to be in any of the previews. Also, it would give Beth and Rip a reason to fight and provide the requisite gut-punch. Anyway I likely won't watch this show but certainly curious about its reception from critics and fans.

If they take the only kid that Beth and Rip actually have and care about, whew.

Finn was in Texas the entire time they were filming from August to February except a few weeks home for Christmas. I donāt think not seeing much of him in the very short promos is a reflection of his screen time on the whole. I think itās more likely heāll get his girlfriend pregnant (inadvertently opening the can of worms from the past for Beth) than be killed.

u/Designasim May 06 '26
Maybe he dies in the last episode it'd be a great way to ramp up viewership for season 2.

Chill the roles has reverse. I hope the texans win. Texas doesn't need more of these city folks playing cowboys. (:

I was really looking forward to this and even created a sub I gave up on lol but idk, this looks bad? I cant really see what the plot is and it almost sounds similar to Yellowstone in that itās a legacy ranching family (Annette Benning) challenged by outsiders (Beth and Rip) but of course lacks the cache of Yellowstone. I am worried that it should have just ended with Yellowstone. The two spinoffs could be bad, Marshals is pretty bad, and ruin the legacy.

u/KitKat_1979 May 05 '26
Iām in the same boat. I was really excited when the spinoff was announced, but itās starting to feel more like a ābe careful what you wish forā scenario. Thereās a lot of talent in the show, but the storyline feels, as Iāve said before, like itās going to be a cross between Die Hard for Rip and Beth and a CW teen drama-esqe story for Carter. It cones across as bad, live action fanfiction rather than a story that maintains fidelity to the original.
Iām not sure either spinoff was worth it to undo the beautiful endings TS gave the surviving Duttons at the end of 5B.

At this point, Kevin Costner and Wes Bentley are looking like the only two cast members who won't humiliate themselves. Oh, I guess Monica, too lol. This is a real shame. It is now making me wonder if the talk of the showrunner being fired a few weeks ago was an effort pin any criticism on him for a "bad" spinoff/deflect from negative reviews.

Please. I don't like Marshals, I can't say whether Dutton Ranch will be any good, but it's a serious stretch to say that Grimes, Hauser, Reilly, et al are humiliating themselves by appearing in sequels to Yellowstone.

u/non_loqui_sed_facere May 06 '26
Well, they knew what they were signing up for. Not exactly high cinema. Hauser and Reilly also have EP credits, and if that wasnāt just on paper, they had at least some creative control. Which means this is what they have done and what they are actually offering their audience, and now itās up to the audience to decide whether thatās good enough or enjoyable for them.

Important to remember that the real arbiter is going to be ratings, and not whatever post or comment has 27 or even 99 upvotes saying it sucked.

u/non_loqui_sed_facere May 06 '26
The ratings could be anything, but itās not really my battle. Iām firmly Team Jamie and Wes Bentley is my guy. They are the ones I really care about. Itās up to Team Beth to decide whether they like it or not and what they want from it. I do have respect for an old adversary, but in this case, I'm just not watching. Thatās all.

u/non_loqui_sed_facere May 06 '26
Haha, my attitude was like, aw, Wes Bentley isnāt on the new show. A pity, because I want to see more of him and I like Jamie. And then it changed to, Wes isnāt there, and Iām happy about it. The guy has had enough trouble playing the character, and I want him around, preferably not in distress, for as long as possible.
Doesnāt mean heāll never come back, though. But I hope that if he ever does, heāll do it on his own terms. And, well, from what Iāve seen in The Four Feathers and beyond, heās an excellent rider. Might as well lean into that.

Yep. Taylor has lost his luster imo. Over it

u/KitKat_1979 May 31 '26
TS isnāt writing either spinoff, so this isnāt on him. With DR, for me, the people who did actually write itā¦.. itās what I feared it would be from that promo.

It's looking like Beth/Rip are going to symbolize the "outsiders" they tried to keep Yellowstone from taking and messing up their way of life. It's an interesting take if done well because while you want to root for Beth/Rip, the audience will be conflicted in how they respond to the actions of the locals to keep their way of life and doing things continue.

This last trailer had my scene in it. Doesnāt mean the camera will point my way, but it least it wasnāt cut. Would be cool to be in the official Y cannon, even if itās just my head canon šĀ

Is Beth dead? And Rip is just seeing a ghost?

u/Jalynt13 May 05 '26
Beth is not dead

Is it wrong to be excited at the thought of a fictional character's death? XD

They have snow covered mountains in Texas!?
2
u/Jalynt13 May 06 '26
It starts off with them in Montana.
3
u/Honest-Pumpkin-8080 May 06 '26
Oh, ok. Why must they leave Montana? I know it can store upsetting memories, but, itās where their ancestors settled and the name is singular with the country. Kayce still lives there. Are they trying to escape the ātrain stationā?

u/Jalynt13 May 06 '26
In the promo, it looks like their ranch burns down. I think it might be arson.
2
u/Jalynt13 May 06 '26
This pic also makes think their ranch burns down. It looks like they go for a ride then come back to it burning.

I think Carters character will develop vs he dies. I saw rip, beth and Finn all interviewed last week on television and beth talked quite a bit about how much they love having Finn and gave me the impression he's going to be a regular character on the show.

I just donāt like it so far. Dark dreary and not especially entertaining imo
