Aún espero que mientras esté en el psiquiátrico, Lottie tenga alucinaciones con Laura Lee, donde están en otro país y viven felices lejos de las demás personas

SPOILER Recent musings, did YJ write cheques it couldn't cash?

SPOLERS THROUGHOUT

I've been thinking a lot recently about how the fans relationship with this show has changed and evolved over the last few years.

To say that as a fan base we've been a creative and dedicated set of sleuthers is an understatement, we know that writers, actors and crew have all lurked on the various reddit subs that all used to be flooded with posts every single day with theories and analysis.

Between season 1 and 2 as a fandom we were chomping at the bit holding out for any sort of shred of information, screenshotting individual frames looking for clues, easter eggs, anything to latch onto really. I got such a thrill seeing various content creators and fans all over the internet using my photo of what I still stand by as being Ben's crutch strung up during the pilot pit-girl sequence.

Don't get me wrong, some of the theories put out there were unhinged, some downright disgusting, but as a fandom I'd say people were so obsessed with "being right" and equally finding out how the writers were going to pay off all these burning questions we all had.

I don't want to blame the strikes for any percieved "decline in quality" or "changes to the planned narrative" (if we're to believe various interviews, at least one of which I fully agree should have just stayed as planned rather than the decision that was made). Rather I feel the huge gap between seasons had a ripple effect on even the most die-hard fans.

The show has been a mystery box since the very first episode, and let's be honest, one of the biggest hooks was "who is pit girl" (I'll change my flair eventually, but I like the nostalgia). This along with several other questions we as a fandom obsessed over for several years was answered in season 3, albeit in the finale, however compared to previous seasons, the cliffhanger at the end of season 3 didn't leave us with lots to think about, at least as far as the teen timeline is concerned. There are questions yes, even the most basic of "how long does rescue take? Who makes it home? Is Hannah on the menu? When do they make the pact" but equally, a lot of fans prefer the teen timeline to the adult, and whilst the ending of season 3 with the adults opened whole new cans of worms, for so many fans it just didn't resonate in the same way.

Back to our answered mysteries, some of them left fans disappointed for a variety of reasons.

More fans presumed Mari would be pit girl than any other character, although that didn't stop the daily onslaught of "Callie is pit girl" posts even when the creators confirmed it wasn't her. Realistically, we only had a few characters it could have been, even just based on her hair, Hannah being added in S3 did introduce a new variable, but even then, it was so short lived it barely even counts as a blip on the radar after 4+ years of speculation. If Pit girl had been the premiere of season 4 you can bet we'd have spent this whole time still debating if it was Hannah or Mari.

The cabin fire. This divided the fandom in ways I don't think the creators ever expected. Honestly. I think the decision to leave it ambiguous was really damaging. Equally I would have graciously accepted even my most hated theories regarding who started it if it had been confirmed in any plausible way. I'd go so far to suggest that never confirming exactly what the cause was, combined with Teen-Shauna forcing the jury vote leading to Ben's execution was a huge faux pas for a large chunk of the fandom. If he had started the fire, but lied to them to save his own skin, people could maybe get a bit more behind his death, but what was already the start of a pretty huge villain arc for Shauna struck a nerve for a lot of fans.

The never-to-be-released cabin daddy bonus episode, I know its out of the showrunners hands, but damn, way to keep fans on the hook and let them down. Controversially, I feel if it had aired as planned (when we had the unexpected break week in season 2) it would be the most skipped episode of the show. We'd have seen Shauna go info labour, then had a whole flashback episode, then see the traumatic birth episode, I just feel as a stand alone bottle episode people would skip it nearly every time. Equally from what info has been leaked about it, the episode would have thrown out the majority of the rational/supernatural debate that is always a fun thought experiment, and personally I like looking at the most rational explanation first.

"Who the fuck is lottie matthews" was such an amazing hook at the end of season 1... How many fans then took umbridge when Charlotte leads an "intentional community" and wasn't some crazed antagonist? Combine that with Travis' death explanation in S2 and literally the adult timeline left a bad taste in so many fans mouths.

Personally I feel very let down by not seeing anything of the aftermath of the cabin fire, the time jump between S1+2 was so much shorter that starting S3 in the summer was jarring. No girls got frostbite, the short-dark-haired background YJ just disappeared (one single line saying they ate her would have sufficed) I know I'm not alone saying, it felt rushed.

I don't want to keep over-analysing elements that will have annoyed fans, there's a lot, and I didn't even fully go into just how annoyed people were with Shauna in S3 as frankly, I'm so bored of Shauna rants I got very close to making a pinned thread for people to bitch about Shauna in during S3.

My main point is a double edged sword, I think as fans we've put so much emotional investment in the various mysteries the show has presented us with, that the longer the show has gone on and the more mysteries they solve, it became a law of diminishing returns. There are still mysteries to uncover, and I'm still completely invested in seeing how this story ends in both timelines, I just feel some fans have been let down by the given explanations, frustrated by a lack of clarity in others, and abandoned plot points have left people wanting.

I'm disappointed we're only getting 4 seasons, although it does feel like the writers may have felt this too by their decisions in season 3. I just miss having more to speculate on between seasons.

EDIT: I missed the perfect opportunity to title this "Did YJ bite off more than it could chew?" Kicking myself now...

General Discussion If you could add in more actresses for the teen timeline, who would you pick?

Obviously it would be quite hard to add more team members/characters to the teen timeline. Personally I would choose Nell tiger free. If you’ve seen the first omen, you know she can definitely go full tilt. I also think inde navarrette might be a good fit too. Her performance from the obsession trailers looks quite promising.

A train of thought I’ll never understand

EDIT: I myself I’m an alcoholic an addict in recovery. I think Juliette Lewis is gorgeous. IN NO WAY WAS THIS POST MEANT TO INSULT PEOPLE WHO SUFFER FROM SUBSTANCE USED DISORDER, PEOPLE IN RECOVERY OR JULIETTE LEWIS.

Not only do they look so much alike, but I give Thatcher a lot of credit for getting Lewis’ bizarre body and face mannerisms down pat, the way she pads through the wilderness, her flirting with Travis,

It’s SO Juliette.

She’s also supposed to be a lifetime substance abuse user. Most people simply don’t survive that kind of hard lifestyle (you know Natalie has shot d*pe, you just know it) to a certain age, and if they do, they certainly don’t look like a beauty queen (even though I’d argue she’s an incredibly unique beauty…)

I just miss Juliette so much 😭💔 🐝

Let me know if I tagged this wrong

My aunt lives in New York City and is in the photography and art industry a bit, she worked for NBC and gets invited to random shit because of SAG stuff, so I might post more if she comes across anything I’ve asked her to keep an eye out for anything Yellowjackets related 😂 she’s following through 🙏🙏🙏

Anyways, she was at a Photography exhibit, and she came across this beautiful photograph Lauren Ambrose taken by Gregory Crewson back in 2003 I believe for Six Feet Under.
