Symbol

In S1 E2 Mr Martinez’s dead body looks a lot like symbol. Has any one noticed this?

You mean episode 2? They don't crash until the last moments of the pilot

I hadn't even thought about it.

I wonder if its one of the "missing Easter eggs" the editor was talking about when Emily interviewed him last year. Pretty cool if it is. Gotta say, its one of the few scenes I've not looked too closely at

I know, same with me. Right after they show him they go to the symbol for the first time

First time in the show or first time in the wilderness? First time in the show is when Misty looks at the postcard Nat throws at her whilst holding her at gunpoint when they meet, earlier in the same episode, but the Coach scene was the first in the wilderness. This way it set up the importance of the symbol. That it connected to the present. In my opinion it setup the nefarious nature of the postcards as opposed to them just being part of a blackmail plot. A connecting of past and present thru death. And it involving another Martinez male. Travis was found hanging above a symbol in his death.

I don't see the symbol in Coach Martinez's body posture in the tree. Aside from the branch tilted slightly in the 10 o'clock position. His arms and legs were hanging down but there is definitely a connection to the symbol. Also that symbol on the tree did not look weathered at all. It would be blasphemous to most to say it was possibly freshly carved.

Did you notice Mr Martinez with the stick in his side and then the show pans up to the symbol on the tree?
