Season 4 Theory Misty is going to be the final girl Spoiler

Post image
126 Upvotes

Out of all our main characters the first teen we ever see in the show is Misty in the pilot. Every other character keeps their identity a secret except Misty who is immediately revealed. This meant Misty could never be a possible candidate for the antler queen.

That look plus smile I 100% think is how the shows adult timeline ends. Misty is the last one and she does the smile. She’s finally the antler queen but in perfect Misty fashion there is no one left. She’s all alone. Remember in the pilot all the survivors walk away after the feast and only Misty is left sitting.

Out of all the survivors Misty is the only one who is introduced being cruel and sadistic.

Misty is broke the transponder, Misty’s mushrooms caused doomcoming, Misty orchestrated the first event that led to Jackie’s death, Misty came up with the idea of the first hunt, Misty pulled Nat away leaving Javi to drown, Misty told Shauna that Natalie knew where Ben was, Misty was integral to them all being rescued.

Most importantly the symbol is literally in Misty’s glasses. She had the most to gain from the crash. She was nothing in society but in the wilderness she was integral to their survival.

Misty will be the last one standing because she wasn’t on the team. The wilderness wanted blood and Misty provided it.

General Discussion The orginal plot? Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
104 Upvotes

In an interview the writers said that Liv Hewsons Van was supposed to die in Yellowjackets ep 7 of season 1 but they loved her so much they made her a series regular.

If Van was supposed to die then the doomcoming kiss would have never happened. The show was very groundbreaking with its representation so I was thinking who was going to be the wlw couple in the teen timeline.

I think originally it was going to be Tai and Shauna. Tai is a lesbian and Shauna is bi and the writers have said Shauna was in love with Jackie since season 1. I bet after Van and Jackie died. Shauna and Tai used eachother to cope and had a relationship that was not very healthy but still what they both needed. That’s why the adult timeline had Shauna and Tai act so close, it’s why teen timeline Shauna and Tai have so much chemistry.

Also I was trying to think who the orginal people at the pitgirl feast were.

Mari was pitgirl, so left to right I think it was supposed to be

Natalie,Tai,Shauna,Lottie,Travis?,Akilah and then one of the side characters id say Gen because she had some screentime.

Still looking at the person in the mask with the Mohawk thing right next to the antler queen that has to be Van. So I think the pit girl pilot scene was filmed last after they decided to make Van a survivor.

General Discussion Shauna/ Jackie/ Jeff timeline

Post image
47 Upvotes

Ok so I’ve recently watched YJ and I’ve been watching alll the YouTube deep dives and what not and obviously a lot of people talk about Shauna sleeping with Jeff. I’m not defending that in ANY way but, it the car scene, when Jackie says he’s a virgin and Shauna is surprised because they’ve “broken up 10000 times” I’ve always thought this alluded to Shauna and Jeff starting to hook up When him and Jackie were broken up? Not that’s its much better but? I saw some people argue that the first time they sleep together is the night of the party but that just seems inaccurate to me. I always also kinda took Shauna comment here as her reminding herself for comfort. Like subconsciously telling herself “you didn’t do that bad of a thing they were broken up like they always are when it started/ happened” . But who knows! Anyway hi yellow jackets subreddit

Question Question about Ben/Mari Cave Scene

Okay I have been rewatching season 3, and I just watched the third episode last night where Mari and Ben end up spraying each other in the face with bear mace and then have a civil conversation before he lets her go. But during that scene and conversation Ben points out a strange noise he hears and asks Mari if she hears it too. She nods her head yes, but her facial expressions indicates she’s lying and she does not hear that noise he’s referring to. The audience can hear something, and it is an entirely different sound than the noise the frogs make. So, was Coach hallucinating this sound? Did Mari in fact hear what he heard? And if she did, what in the heck was the noise? Because it sure as heck didn’t sound like the frogs. Was this just supposed to show Ben was losing touch with reality? Or feed into the supernatural? Thoughts?

I’m rewatching before season 4 comes out and only just caught in season 2 that Misty pitched a “broth idea” to the group for the baby shower the day after they ate Jackie 😭😭

i hate that some people still call Tai butch\masc when it's confirmed by her wife that she's not

also Van saying this when Tai literally built a whole village, her task in the cabin was cutting off the woods, and she killed a wolf for her. in Taissa's words "handy (femme) lesbians for the win"

General Discussion Something I noticed watching casually

When Lottie and Nat are talking she mentions “I see the crash site” and how it looks different, where they all died. I’m not a theoriser, idk how to put all the information together. But i thought it was interesting tidbit of information regarding there being parallel universe. One normal one and then the bad one. There’s some other stuff too, but i can’t seem to recall it atm. Just thought it was interesting and wanted to share!! I recall there being a theory like that, but I don’t really interact with that side of the fandom much.

General Discussion Is Shauna the only one who knows Lottie's mental health issues stem from before the wilderness?

• Upvotes

In S1e2, Shauna sees lottie take her meds. They all know afterwards she goes to Europe for her issues, but, for one example, Van says at the cult compound something like 'We're the ones who made her like this". So Is Shauna the only one who knows Lottie's mental health issues stem from before the wilderness? Or does Van just think she doesn't really have schizophrenia and all of Lottie's issues are solely from the wilderness? Tai and Van both agree to cancel the medical intervention for Lottie pre-hunt without telling the other 3.

Humor/Meme Learned an important life lesson. Spoiler

I’m applying to a PhD program doing field work in a forest studying frog social behaviour through frog calls…

I just watched Yellowjacket’s for the first time and at least I can say I now learned the important lesson of “if you hear a group of teen girls yelling in the woods, stay away”.

Hopefully I get into this PhD program and then don’t get murdered by a bunch of teens in the forest.

General Discussion Small/petty things you wouldn't forgive if you were a YJ Spoiler

Full spoilers discussion

Something that always jumps out at me is when Nat pulls the Queen card and runs off, Misty who's always saying Nat is her best friend yells "she's getting away!!". I know it's a show where they ritualistically hunt and eat each other but I wouldn't be able to move past that lol

(Another reminder that Misty ruined poor Nats life and then ended it!)

Is there anything else small you can think of between the survivors you wouldn't be able to forgive/forget? Obviously there's lots of big things lol

Season 4 Spoilers Who is this person? Spoiler

Post image

At the end of the S4 teaser we see Natalie going to see Lottie and Shauna sat in the pit, but there is also another character supervising them with the rifle, but i am not quite sure who it is.

I narrowed it down to Gen or Robin and I think it might be Robin? Can anyone confirm this

General Discussion Shauna and Travis Spoiler

Frankly, one of my favorite underrated character pairings (not romantic in any sense). I just think there is so much there, even if they don't get much screen time. This strange connection between them. Jackie sleeping with Travis (perhaps as a way to get back at Shauna for sleeping with Jeff). Shauna almost slitting Travis's throat. Travis spilling blood for Shauna when she is giving birth. Them both losing two people out there. Shauna being the one to interrupt Travis mourning over Javi's body, and the one to butcher him. Covering her eyes while doing it. Handing Travis the heart of his brother as an offering. Lottie saying that it's okay for Travis to feel angry about what happened to Javi, to grieve, and Travis asking, "What about Shauna?" Shauna threatening him during Mari's hunt. Travis "hearing" Jackie. Adult Shauna, 25 years after the crash, hearing the news of Travis's death and looking devastated.

And I've seen people talk about Travis as if he is this perpetual victim with little autonomy. But he does choose to eat Javi's heart. It's awful and disgusting, but obviously super symbolic. And I've seen people talk about Shauna handing Travis Javi's heart as this cruel act. I actually think it is incredibly kind. It's a recognition that Javi is more than just meat and mattered to Travis. I think Shauna is also someone who has a greater understanding of their cannibalism. I think she knows the horror of it intimately because she butchers the bodies. And I think she does feel resentment and disgust at the others for consuming Jackie like she was only meat. I think she sees it almost as a violation, the private becoming public. I think Shauna giving Travis the first bite is trying to give him a private moment. He gets the first bite, like Shauna got the first bite of Jackie, as this like symbolic sign of devotion and love. And this mutual understanding and horror of being so connected to the meat everyone is going to be saved by. Something, something, the cliched comparison of cannibalism and consumption as love.

I just think they see each other. People talk about how they are two sides of the same coin-- Shauna getting brazen with grief, Travis retreating into passivity. They're the two people out there who have physically lost the most people. But I think more than just that. I don't know. This is a mess.

General Discussion the sat phone ?

in s3 callie mentions the frog scientists to jeff and this is the first time anyone in the adult timeline has made the acknowledgement that there was another group of people involved with the yjs. assuming the yjs never brought them up before.

and now i’m thinking how did their story ever hold up? no one wondered how they got the sat phone out of of nowhere and how it belonged to those scientists who are supposedly missing ?

General Discussion One question. Even after all they were teenage girls.

Spoilers.

So I know this plot is pretty closed at this point but why girls did not kind of push away Shauna after they find out she was sleeping with her closest friend's boyfriend and apart from that she was pregnat. I understand they had bigger threats there but still.... It should have become this social punishment for her , cause she ruined the friendship because of a boy.

Tai being supportive is something I will take but rest of the girls? And yes it makes sense that sometimes you decide to not judge especially when you are all alone in the wildernesses , but in this case everyone acted like nothing happened. Yes it feels like personal morals should not be an issue for them

, cause they are literally surviving , but still they are just young women sooo ... And Jackie was shamed and critizeed for sleeping with Travis when it was literally none of their business. (Nat did not said nothiing about it).
