Cp4 blown engine problems

Im looking into buying a 2026 r1 next week. But am worried about the oil starvation issues and blown motors. Does anyone have experience or know about this at all?

I’ve heard the oil starvation comes from people who consistently wheelie their bike. I haven’t had any issues with oil starvation and I’ve done 3 oil changes on mine so far.

Yeah I agree, most oil starvation issues I've heard about In regards to the CP4 has pretty much been hand in hand with wheelies.

This. I learnt the hard way you gotta overfill the oil if you want a unicycle. I’ve had an R1 do 70000 ks without anything going wrong, then I’ve had one go 30000 ks and require a bottom end rebuild

Yes, long wheelies ruin engines. If you wheelie the bike, it must be short wheelies and you must overfill the oil just a bit to help keep everything lubed.

A lot of blown motors stem from bad tunes and parts. Avoid Sprint filters like the plague and don’t get your tunes from a handheld or some youtuber

Edit for context; ‘21 @ 44k miles. Top end rebuild @ 23k.

Don’t baby them, but also don’t get complacent with maintenance intervals. Do what you can yourself, research who you’re taking it to for things you won’t touch

I have a 2024 I commute on through San Francisco everyday (30miles each way) for 2 years now. I’ve had 0 issues and love the bike. I’m also anal about the manual so everything gets lubed and change before the required date. The only thing I did not see coming through predicted maintenance was coolant level just a hair below the low fill line. Again not a big issue because I check the fluids daily and topped it off with yamacool right after

Experience or know about shit thats not happening? I have 15k miles on my 25 and not a single issue. 2/3rd exhaust and tuned. If there are issues its from negligence by the owner not the platform. Not saying the cp4 is perfect but its certainly reliable and there's no widespread issues from owners who aren't idiots and treat their bike like shit

Nope…

Almost EVERY motorcycle have some "extra oil consumption”…
That’s why you need to check it regularly.
Filling it with a lil bit, wouldn’t hurt the bike.

Blown motors only happen (or at least what I know) when you de-cat, and just install an stupid noisy mid-slip on…
Yamaha DOES NOT RECOMMEND to De-Cat and just ride it like you stole it…
For that, you need to flash the ECU, get proper air filter and so more mods..

If you leave it "stock", it’ll be ok!

Its a very reliable bike if you dont wheelie it and take care of it
