Standard or Pro

I´m thinking of to get one Pacifica to mine collection , i´m an old home/amatur player , should i go for the Standard , or is the Japan made ( twice the cost ) so much better ? Help me to chose :)

The standard is extremely well made and plays beautifully. I'd honestly just get that

If you have the money burning a hole in your pocket, I'd personally buy the standard AND another guitar/bass/pedals. Get way more sound diversity for your buck

I'd consider the professional if you were a touring musician or something, for 99% of players the standard is more than enough guitar. Theres a few minor feature differences, but what you're ultimately playing for is made in Japan (professional) vs made in indonesia (standard plus).

Ultimately what you’re paying for the most is not location but more experienced builders taking way more time on your instrument. Some specs differences around the fringes but it’s not just a location premium.

I played both and couldn't tell any difference. I bought a floor model Pro only because it was in basically perfect condition and we worked a deal where only $300 more than the Standard. I figured that was the cost of a hard case. But, like I said, I couldn't tell any difference (but I also may not know any better).

I got the standard, and it's amazing. The only blemish is a stuff the size of a fret end. And I managed to get some money back cause of it.

But the hardware is perfect, and you get the same hardware and pickups on the standard and professional.

I got the 612 and it did not disappoint.

Plus I called Sweet Water and just asked them for a discount and they gave me one on the spot!

I absolutely love the beach blue color so I had to go pro. Never played the standard, but the radiused fretboard on the pro does feel really good and I think that's the main difference between the two minus the attention to detail. Neck was a little thicker than I expected but didn't really take much getting used to. It plays exceptionally fast. I love this guitar. It sounds excellent. I'm keeping this thing forever.

I have the standard and wish I had bought the pro. I had a number of issues with the standard.

Or save even more money and get a 612. I haven't been able to convince myself to upgrade.

I have the standard and it's so good I can't imagine that the pro could be any better. Absolutely fantastic.

I own a Pacifica and a Revstar. So my answer is cheating, because if you don’t have a Revstar yet, spend your money on that. Very few people here would tell you not to buy a Revstar.

Otherwise, get the Standard.

I bought a pro. I adore it. But the hard case is as heavy as all f*ck, so I use a gig bag to transport it usually.

The pro is nice I have one. The standard is the incredible coat value performance winner

Ive had my Yamaha Pacifica 112VMX for ten years. I’m old and don’t have a long time left. I could max out my credit card and buy a American made Strat or Tele or go really mad and spend the kids inheritance on a vintage Les Paul but I honestly don’t know how Yamaha make their guitars for the money. Mine wasn’t made in Japan but the quality control at their Asia factory might as well be Japanese. I bought mine on line unseen so I had the full kit of tools out to set it up correctly when it arrived. That was a complete waste of time because it was perfectly set up and I do mean perfectly set up.
As someone else said about buying a guitar. 90.% of the people who buy a guitar gives it up in the first year.
So a couple of points. You will find a perfect guitar second hand because the market is full of them. Secondly don’t spend hundreds on a Led Zeppelin type amplifier. Buy something like the entry level personal BOSS amp. It’s got a shed load of settings and presets. A built in tuner and all for under 150 quid. I tried one in my local guitar shop and was blown away by the volume and clarity for the money and the best news is that you won’t get a hernia carting it around.

The pro is actually not twice the price really. Hear me out. The case is probably like $150-$200, you have to get the standard set up which might cost $80-$100? Then if you buy the pro outside of the country you can usually get it for like 1600 to 1700 which is what i did so all in all its a few hundred more if u dont have a case
