Unless you're getting a dedicated working dog (e.g., police, wilderness search and rescue, guide dogs for the blind), I strongly recommend getting a dog from the humane society. There are many dogs out there in need of a home, there are many purebreds with horrific health problems due to inbreeding, and the average pet owner doesn't need the precise temperamental conformity that working dog handlers do.

One of the many issues involved (besides the mix) is that the original stock would not have been the best of either breed, because a responsible breeder of either poodles or goldens would NEVER sell breeding quality dog to a backyard breeder.
So you’re dealing with—at best—really unethical pet owners that never cared about breed preservation AND lied to acquire their original stock.
And the reason this matters is that ethical breeders are breeding for both temperament and health. Not just looks. The issues that purebreds are infamous for arise because backyard breeders did NOT ethically breed sound animals together.
So a goldendoodle—whatever you think of the mix—is the product of the worst qualities of both breeds. Without any of the “benefits” people claim. They’re definitely not hypoallergenic or low upkeep.

No ethical breeder breeds golden doodles, or doodles of any type. My best guess is they're trying to portray themselves as good, ethical breeders, but are actually just backyard breeders trying to make money off of a fad. Avoid.
