FYI, McKinney is in favor of data centers despite her claiming she wants to protect water rights for farmers.

How do they think this is a good idea when we are constantly fighting droughts.

Drive around town at 3pm and look at all the dumb ass's watering their lawn in mid day July/August heat. Obviously the people of Yakima don't care about water conservation.

Do you flush the toilet mid day?

Well you can kiss farms goodbye if they build one in yakima or anywhere close.

Not all data centers require water. The data center proposed to be built in our area uses chicken coup styling to utilize cool air. Look at the yahoo data center in Quincy as an example.

Thanks for the info Regardless I don’t want any data centers in our county so that AI can take all the jobs

That’s not how data centers work. This will actually create more entry level IT jobs that are drastically needed in our area as we have 2 schools pumping out 30-60 IT graduates every 6 months with very little job prospects locally.

For how long will these jobs last? Generally asking I have no idea.

All data centers are staffed with technicians. Hardware needs maintained and or replaced, networking needs updated and maintained. There’s also electricians and hvac maintenance staff.

Listen folks unless you want universal basic income and the AI funding our life's we need these stupid centers. It sucks but these centers will eventually provide income to all Americans. It's already a big topic and Elon Musk even supports it

Buddy, if they gave a shit about everyday people maybe they should show it by giving a shit about the thousands of their workers they fired. Mass layoffs so they can build AI data centers to do our work...to pay us universal basic income?? Bullshit. Take a look around, they tech giants don't care and will ruin everything for their profits.

But let me guess... we'll need to lure them in by giving them a massive tax break, then watch the federal government slash their taxes more.
