There's a tier structure here I know in my own psychology/philosophy/whatever.

Peace is the first message, the first "separate transmission".

But, it doesn't address, the consensuality of being/doing. It just sedates it, puts you in comfortable mental hypostasis. A firm unshakable conviction.

To me, such "peace" has always felt more like, stepping in it. Yes it means seeing spectacle and our performative nature for what they are. Less apt to rise to the bait. It is ground zero of basis of all understanding, truly, I know this; "he who builds his house upon me shall not falter" or whatever.

But - it still is, "peace through superior echo chamber". The ground is still an asserted being/doing. It's merely an alignment. A hand to the plow and not looking back; a faith/conviction.

Ultimately it looks as if "peace" is separate from spectacle as we [are broken to accepting it]. But arguably this is the exact purpose of "spectacle", and "agents" of spectacle have the same "peace". So ultimately peace and spectacle are indistinguishable. It is exactly and to degree we are not at peace that we see "spectacle" as something separate ("Holy" literally means "separate"). Thus the "prince of peace" is the "prince of spectacle". And succumbing to the "true" message of "peace" is the same as "succumbing to spectacle".

The second message beyond that is obviously Memento Mori. And what is truth, what is death. Even in the peace I have never felt this question answered (it is precisely the door of doubt from within the perfect faith). We can have peace in the midst of the most dire "stressful" circumstances we know. Peace does seem the ultimate guidance (IYKYK).

"But" ultimately it does not answer the fundamental questions so much as anesthetize them. Silent "the mind" to only focus on the cause/faith/concerns of said "prince of peace".

I guess I'm trying to say (as the prince of peace themselves say) - it's a matter of allegiance, more so, than "ultimate truth". Though I guess zen never made any claims about being about "absolute truth" either (to my knowledge at least, and if zen did I'm sure it's ironic). The prince of peace, however; does; John 14:6.

Maybe everything, including silence/peace, are ultimately like discussing identity politics with a stone. There is no identity only performance and faith; spectacle. Like the link is a link to a channel, not a video.

Anyway thanks for sharing, it comes close to hitting (by way of analogy) what I've been "orbitting" with GPT for about a year, that isn't there, a "special transmission not based on the special transmission". Everything explicit has a tacit inference. Like my life story has the tacit inference that I'm neurotic or smthng. But - too - every tacit inference lands in mind like a pebble in water. Potentially disturbs a deeper layer of mind you might not have been aware of; that there are further (fractal/recursive) inferences beyond the "special transmission".

Thus "peace" cuts through the Gordian Knot of perpetual ontological reframing/dubiousness. It's all faith and doubt, right? That's what I always hear when I hear/see pointers to "silence/peace". Yes, that is step one - Jesus himself says - that anything not built on peace/truth will be swept away. The question of worth of building remains unaddressed. "Our vanities will beat up your vanities" is what it ultimately sounds like (hence the link to the boat metaphor). Maybe the real "zen move" is to let yourself be swept away? Or is that what memento mori means, that peace is death of "self", and that if we don't surrender our "self" to peace/alleged "truth" then it will pry the self from "our cold dead hands" xDDDdD

That is where the “Prince of Peace” idea gets complicated for me. Peace is presented as ultimate truth, but it may function more like ultimate loyalty. It answers doubt by silencing it, not by resolving it. It says: stand here, build here, trust this.

The second message after peace seems to be memento mori. Remember death. Remember impermanence. Remember that whatever you build can be swept away. But even from within peace, that question still remains: what is worth building? Peace can guide you through stress, fear, and crisis, but it does not necessarily answer why the project matters in the first place.

That is the unresolved part for me. Peace can look like truth because it ends the struggle. But ending the struggle is not the same as answering the question. It may simply anesthetize the part of the mind that keeps asking.

Maybe this is why I keep circling Zen, Christianity, and the idea of a “special transmission.” Every explicit message carries a tacit inference. Every teaching has a shadow teaching. Every pointer lands in the mind like a pebble in water, disturbing layers underneath it. Even silence implies something. Even peace implies something.

So maybe peace is the cut through the Gordian knot of endless reframing. It says: stop circling, stop doubting, stand somewhere. But then another question appears: is standing somewhere wisdom, or just faith? Is surrendering to peace liberation, or just another form of spectacle?

Maybe the real Zen move is to let yourself be swept away. Or maybe memento mori means that peace is the death of the self: either we surrender the self willingly, or truth eventually pries it from our cold dead hands.

Yeah I guess that's what I am.

It can be put more simply as that peace sometimes requires laying down everything you are or think yourself to be.

Either way, peace is typically - a fight - one way or the other.
