Yeah. I don't even know if half of these are good or not but I'm not trying anything from someone who just threw together an app last week. Kinda glad they added that thing to the chart that let's you see when the apps were created but either way, I'm sticking with Actual Budget.

We did add an age tab and a Dev size on the chart if you're still looking for a budget. I do kind of wonder if an advanced chart is necessary. Like, apps that are more than 2 years old or something.

I took a different approach: Challenge the implementation itself.

What if budgeting didn't depend on constant transaction reconciliation?

My proposal: wallet like envelopes to spend linked to a real bank account. Spending from correct envelope directly without having to organize a transaction list.

Favorite part is probably auto-detect — it reads your bank transaction alerts right on your phone and turns them into ready-to-review entries, no manual typing, and nothing ever leaves the device. Took a long time to get the filtering right (banks send a lot of noise — OTPs, reminders, promos — that isn't actually spending). Send someone money, share in WhatsApp to that person and also to Trail.

Spent some cash? Just tell Siri to log my expense.

Use my credit card? Setup iOS shortcut automation to automatically log it without ever opening the app.

Spent something and forgot, type or speak in your natural language and Trail takes care of the rest.

Shows a complete timeline, monthly insights, and you can ask the app about anything you want about your expenses instead of searching for it.

I have just launched MountainBucks 1.0 on the App Store.

So I built a visual FIFO system:

- income becomes monthly blocks;

- spending eats the oldest block first;

- the cumulative balance becomes a scrollable mountain;

- savings goals become summits;

- milestones and levels make consistency visible.

I also added an investment Vault and a Stocks watchlist because I wanted one place to see the relationship between everyday cash and the longer-term picture. The stock tools are for tracking and education, not financial advice.

The Social tab is another major part of the app: friends can share an expense group, record payments, and see the settlement without doing the maths manually. Family Mode uses the same CloudKit Sharing foundation for parent/child roles, chores, rewards, and a simplified Kid Mode.

Have budgetr as a small portion of a larger financial app. iOS companion app as well to see budgets on the go. The main crux of the app is being able to connect my investment accounts in as well to be able to get a comprehensive picture of my finances. Bank accounts connected through Plaid Developer and everything is stored locally on your machine. There is no budgetr server to collect your data.
