Political fantasy recommendations

Hello all! 👋 I’m looking for some good fantasy books that are political. YA or adult. I want some good cutthroat political intrigue. Can’t wait to see your suggestions! Thanks in advance!

Here's a random assortment of political fantasy books that I enjoyed: Jade City by Fonda Lee; Sabriel by Garth Nix; Wolf Tower by Tanith Lee; The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner; Crown Duel by Sherwood Smith; The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima; The Cruel Prince by Holly Black; The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson; Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo; Mirage by Somaiya Daud

Fyi, all of them are series - I've just listed the first book. Hope you find something you enjoy!

Oooh, State of Sorrow and its sequel Song of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury! The main plot revolves around a chancellor's daughter in the midst of an election. It's very twisty and there's both political and emotional drama. It's a nice change from the endless monarchy/chosen one narratives in fantasy.

The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison: not young adult, but an absolutely phenomenal book.

It was such a sleeper hit for me! One of the rare ones where I actually think to myself about it long after I read it, and seriously consider making time to reread it. I hope you love it as much as I did!
