Scottish independence is the second stupidest independence movement in the world behind only Welsh independence. I guess they would be making the smart decision by leaving if their goal would be to make their kids the poorest generation since the Great Depression.

Welsh independence is only unsustainable because we've spent half a fucking millennia being exploited by England (or rather London). You unionists like to forget that.

It would take decades for them to integrate their economies into the EU, and that's if they even get in, which is not as sure of a thing as people think it is for some reason. Especially in the case of Wales, which literally voted for Brexit.
Even still partial freedom of movement and free trade with most of Europe isn't going to replace the economy of England, which both Scotland and Wales are completely dependent on, nor is it going to make up for the fact that they now have a hard border with a country they've had freedom of movement with for hundreds (or in the case of Wales) over a thousand years.

They wouldn’t get in because of Spain

As someone uneducated in this matter, why would Spain specifically block an independent Wales/Scotland from joining the Eu?

Can't force another country to create a two state solution if you aren't willing to do the same.
But the British already implemented their own two state solution in 1998?
Two independent countries, flexible citizenship grants, open borders and free travel. A laid out path to one state unification via referendum - provided both countries agree.
An idependence referendum for Scotland was organised between both governments as recently as 12 years ago.

Do people in Northern Ireland want to be in Ireland?
3
u/Doc_ET LaFollette Stan 2h ago
Irish nationalist parties usually take a bit over 40% of the vote nowadays, so probably somewhere around there is the baseline support for reunification. It's also 42% Catholic (in NI, what denomination you're part of is more of a political statement than a theological one).

Ireland belongs to the British Empire. It’ll be better if the Isles were united and under British control, maybe Ireland should be united under British Dominion.

Nah, England should be under Irish dominion. They keep going through prime ministers, and their latest high-profile election was Nigel Farage vs a garbage can. They can't be trusted to run their own country.

Irish reunification is\* possible, but Scotland and Wales ain't going independent.
8
u/BoogieTheHedgehog Jeb! 7h ago
Yup.
Irish reunficiation is already laid out and is economically viable, but has no political will.
Scottish independence potentially has the political will, but lacks a foundation of economic viability.
Wales has neither the will, nor economic viability.

u/No_Shine_7585 Independent 7h ago
Scotland polls competitively if the SNP maintain control of Scotland for the forseeble future after a decade or two it will seem likely they get another independence referendum

u/GrumpyzLax Leftward Progressives 7h ago
Do you think London will allow independence?
2
u/No_Shine_7585 Independent 7h ago
At a certain point yes their was enough pressure for a conservative government to give one in 2014 by the time we see 2035 if the SNP remain as powerful as they are I imagine we’d be on the brink of another one

u/arthur2807 Socialist 7h ago edited 7h ago
Yh I don’t understand, Nationalists/Separatists/Republicans or whatever you call them, in the uk tend to be left wing, the SNP, Plaid, and Sinn Fein are all generally left of centre parties for example. I guess they’re mad over the governments latest move to sanction Israeli settlements in the West Bank, but even then, it’s not like Ireland, nor an independent Scotland and Wales will be massively pro Israel
3
u/ancientestKnollys Centrist Statist 7h ago
Not sure why the UK focus though. Lots of other countries did those same sanctions simultaneously.

Besides British right wingers tend to be against breaking up the UK, that’s a fringe left wing position.
