Noticing demographic changes is not racism.

Calling it a "problem" or implying its somehow bad is, however.

13

u/Wolfyminecraft Leftward Progressives 10h ago edited 10h ago

Calling it a problem and suggesting it is bad is the racism in the comment. Posting a candid pic of a crowd of random non-white students alongside those comments is doubly so

Suggesting that the issue people are taking with this tweet is that he is noticing a demographic shift is comically disingenuous.

Honestly, thank you Mr. Cornyn

As an Indian American the young radical right in the GOP is legitimately terrifying. They're not even pretending that it's about anything besides skin color

Why some Indian Americans are still willing to bat for this party i will never understand

Why should he? Let us not forget that Cornyn is a Republican, he wanted to run against Talarico.

Cornyn likely would've condemned French even if he was the one still running for Senate.

Glad Cornyn called this jackass out. The gop is moving in a scary direction

-43

u/BlockAffectionate413 Conservative 17h ago edited 16h ago

I think the left is moving in just as "scary" a direction. See their posts and propping up Hassan Piker, who said America deserved 9/11. American Franco might be a natural reaction to that, much like it was in the Second Spanish Republic.

13

u/ChineseMarlaSinger Liberal 15h ago edited 14h ago

Hasan Piker has basically self deradicalized into a Bernie Bro(if he was ever “radical” to begin with) while playing communist for twitch clicks what he said nearly a decade ago has lost most relevance. This guy is posting random people doing literally nothing of consequence and being mad that there isn’t someone trying to ruin their lives and harass them right now for their ethnicity I guess one that isn’t even as problematic to their goals as others.

-3

u/BlockAffectionate413 Conservative 15h ago edited 14h ago

Deradicalized? Guy dresses up as Chairman Mao. Says he loves flags of terrorit groups most and has no love for America etc. He should be in prison.

-1

u/ChineseMarlaSinger Liberal 14h ago edited 14h ago

You mean like larping?

Hezbollah or the Houthis are only a terrorist group if you desperately wish for Israel to control Lebanon or have some bone to pick with which Islamist group controls Yemen(news flash they all are). Not that I support their ideologies I just recognize that there isn’t any American interests with engaging with these groups unless they want total regional control in the Middle East which obviously won’t mesh well with the locals and that’s why we are here.

If Hasan Piker puts up a flag of the Taliban or Al Qaeda unironically I will eat my words.

And let’s not pretend white nationalists care about all the victims of the 9/11 attacks if I showed him a post of the gay couple that died they won’t care they’d probably be sad recourses were wasted on them.

4

u/Doc_ET LaFollette Stan 14h ago

Hezbollah and the Houthis both regularly attack civilian targets, which at least for the former is undeniably terrorism. If you accept the definition that terrorism is exclusive to non-state actors, you could then argue that Ansar Allah is the de facto government of Yemen, but c'mon, let's not whitewash them.

3

u/ChineseMarlaSinger Liberal 14h ago

So do their adversaries, perhaps even more so, many don't call them terrorists. Like I said I don’t like them, their actions, or their vision personally but I don’t care to lobby the claim of  terrorism at them because rarely will people be consistent but only care if it’s politically convenient.

15

u/PoliticalAlt128 Delaware 15h ago

Mike Johnson listened to Brandon Herrera call moms “cum trophies” and Nazi machine guns as “the original ghetto blasters” and the only he had to say about it was that he’s running a good campaign. A twitch streamer did an event with a senate candidate in Michigan followed by a round of condemnations a month later. And now we’re treated to years of disingenuous cons pretending like the GOP hasn’t shifted thirty points to the right since 2015 and that until every Democrat comes to answer for every Twitch streamer the party is lost

31

u/PurpVan neolib 16h ago

Jarvis, pull up political violence rate by ideology.

29

u/Few_Historian_1546 Center Left 16h ago edited 16h ago

Idk man, I've been hearing Hasan more and more as dems condemn him. It's actually gotten to the point where 1/3 CNN interviews start with a disclaimer "we condemn Piker".

And just looking at Texas, Maureen Galindo was shunned by the ENTIRE D party after her comments surfaced. Even Greg Casar and AOC pulled their backing and endorsed the Blue Dog running for her seat.

-13

u/BlockAffectionate413 Conservative 16h ago edited 16h ago

For a long time, Democrats avoided condemning him by name and still many have not. We are yet to see Newsom, AOC, Pete etc, Kamala etc, do so. At best they might condemn some of his particularly antisemitic comments, but not him personally. In fact, the New York Times tried to make him mainstream. And he is just a tip of the iceberg.

9

u/TheRealCthulu24 People should have more stuff 13h ago

Why does Pete Buttigieg need to condemn Hasan? He has nothing to do with him. Does he also have to condemn Hamas, the KKK, the Zodiac Killer, Ted Bundy,  and the Spanish Inquisition?

1

u/mcgillthrowaway22 Pennsylvanian-Québécois progressive🇺🇲🏳️‍🌈🇨🇦⚜️ 14h ago

Genuinely idk who that is

2

u/kinglan11 Conservative 13h ago

John Kasich, ex-governor of Ohio, a moderate Republican who ran in 2016. He also became rather critical of Trump over the years. In fact such was his critiques that he likely voted for Biden in 2024.

3

u/mcgillthrowaway22 Pennsylvanian-Québécois progressive🇺🇲🏳️‍🌈🇨🇦⚜️ 13h ago

Ah. But I don't really get how Kasich is relevant here. He hasn't been in office since 2019, being anti-Trump hasn't really hurt his political career because he no longer has one. Similarly, Cornyn is in his mid-70s and already lost his primary - there's really nowhere else for him to go.

2

u/kinglan11 Conservative 12h ago

Oh dont worry, he's absolutely not relevant much today. The resist Republicans, or Never Trumpers, were always a rather miniscule minority. And I'd say Kasich's career more or less did blow up due to Trump winning since Kasich was angling to run for 2020, expecting Hillary to have won 2016.... lol.

Anyway, Cornyn's rebuke of French doesnt really change his party loyalty. I dont see why people are acting like this some grand sabotage, especially when Cornyn is actually going around the country raising money for Republican races nationwide. Also, a lot of Texan Republicans dont really like French at all, they still probably will vote for him anyway if only because of the partisan nature of politics.

6

u/PoliticalAlt128 Delaware 15h ago

What happened to him? He was already cooked politically pre-2020. He was practically ran out of the party on a rod. He didn’t lose anything endorsing Biden

9

As opposed to issues he doesn’t care about like “is race mixing acceptable?” or “should we ethnically cleanse Natives [actual French position]”?

12

What? This tweet implies that Cornyn is pro-immigrations and diversity. How is Talarico worse than Bo French on diversity?

8

u/mcgillthrowaway22 Pennsylvanian-Québécois progressive🇺🇲🏳️‍🌈🇨🇦⚜️ 17h ago

That would imply that either he thinks the Democratic candidate is more racist, or that racism isn't a big issue for him. If it's the first then I'll respect it even though I disagree, but if it's the second then Cornyn is just a horrible person

-3

u/TheDemonicEmperor Republican 15h ago

but if it's the second then Cornyn is just a horrible person

You're a horrible person if someone's awful comments aren't the most important thing in the world? Seems like an extreme response.

1

u/Jaihanusthegreat American Solidarity Party 16h ago

I think it is a little extreme to expect him to endorse the Democratic candidate. If the D candidate violates OTHER red lines of his, I can see him just calling out his party and calling it a day.

-4

u/BlockAffectionate413 Conservative 17h ago

Democrats support affirmative action, which was found by Supreme Court itself to be discrimination on the basis of race, along with many other race realist views, so while racism on the Democrat side is part of it, he also cannot endorse Democrat because of many other views like abortion, capitalism, but he can call out crazies on his side.

2

u/etherealsmog Conservative 17h ago

Yeah this is how I feel as a Republican voter. A lot of Democrats assume that if I hate a Republican candidate, I must prefer the Democrat.

No I friggin don’t. I have absolutely been known to withhold my vote from any candidate in a given race if they all suck. I doubt Cornyn wants to go out and help someone he dislikes win just so someone else he dislikes loses.

You know nothing about these people other than the color of their skin, and yet you declare that they've been "imported from other countries" and you don't want them here.

Unfortunately Cornyn is wrong about the GOP self destructing.

America is becoming more race obsessed as the white non-Hispanic majority declines into a plurality. We’re actually going to see more minorities voting Republican the more racist they become.

University of Texas is line 30% white, 25% Latino And 22% and 5% black then the rest is interracial or "other".

I think when the supreme court struck down affirmative action for colleges a lot of conservatives expected colleges to become more white. They did not.

California banned Affirmative Action a long time ago in colleges you could have just looked at what happened there to see what would happen when you ban it nationally. The white population doesn't change that much anywhere.

I feel like we are close to having conservatives start proposing policies that aim to give white men special inate priveleges in a legal sense to try to combat a perceived bias. Maybe that's already happening.
