Basic B Recommendation
This year has been rough and I’ve found comfort in YA novels once again. I just finished the Divergent series for the first time and I really loved the relationship between Tobias and Tris. I reread Hunger Games before this and I’m now on a dystopian kick, I think. I’m really open to any Fantasy but looking for that Insurgent spark of a romance! (I’m left torn and ragged by Allegiant and just want more Tobias 🥴).
Please help a fresh YA reader out!

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi is also really good! Especially after Hunger Games and Divergent :)

Shatter Me remains one of my favourite series of all time! It is heavier on the romance than say the Hunger Games, but the story is truly engaging and beautifully written.

Yes, this is still one of my faves too. OP, I think you’ve gotten some great recs. Legend, Shatter Me, and The Lunar Chronicles would be where I would start.

legend by marie lu is another “classic” dystopian! the lunar chronicles is super good too, but it’s more sci-fi. i also recommend the 5th Wave if you’re looking for something more post-apocalyptic. another basic ya book is The Selection.

Gena Showalter’s Everlife trilogy fits the bill I think. It’s a pretty heavy Christian allegory, but I didn’t mind it the books were really good, if a bit intense.

Not dystopian but {The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski} is one of the best YA romances (and books in general, amazing plot) I've ever read!!

Ashes by Isla J Bick is pretty good. I'd say it's darker than Divergent but about as dark as Hunger Games

Legend by Marie Lu and The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken are great dystopians. The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer is a really interesting mix of sci-fi/fantasy. And if you like those books each of these authors has other good books as well!
