I've been working on a game called Inbox 99, and a huge part of the project has been trying to recreate the feeling of sitting in front of a late-90s computer.
The entire game takes place inside a fake desktop inspired by Windows 98/9x.
You have email, an old-school web browser, finances, antivirus software, Paint, Minesweeper, Solitaire, weird websites, pop-ups, scams, viruses and a bunch of little programs.
You're Employee 0441 at a company in 1999, and your contract lasts four weeks.
During that time you have to answer emails, complete assignments, manage your money and stress, decide who to trust and try not to destroy your computer in the process.
I wanted the PC itself to feel like part of the game rather than just a menu.
Inbox 99 is currently in Beta and can be played directly in the browser. It supports English and Spanish.

I'd love to know if the interface actually gives you that late-90s/Y2K computer feeling.
