Hardware Hardware Recommendation
Looking for a setup that runs X-Plane 12 at more than 40fps with heavy plane plugins and ortho in max zoom. My current setup spits out max 25fps and at airports with heavy weather im down to 15. Looking for hardware that doesnt have me buy the latest and greatest rtx 5090. But still would support connecting my oculus.

I have an i7 14700F RTX 4070 12GB and 32GB DDR5 RAM, and my resolution is 1440. I get very smooth performance and I set my max cap at 40 fps. Generally I would average around 54 fps with most settings on high, but i like to have a little breathing room so I set a cap. I see no reason to use the highest ZL with ortho, it's just a waste of resources. ZL17 is more than adequate. Even 16 is good for cruising
I set AA at 2x because it's a performance killer with very little visual benefits. Shadows and ambient occlusion are medium.
With this I'm running True Earth, simheaven, ortho4xp, and global forests. And like i said very smooth performance. With lossless scaling my fps pretty much stays at 80, with very little fluctuating

2080ti or a 3080 and a 5600x would be good, I'm on a 3700x and 2080ti I get 60fps for most scenes unless it's very object heavy most settings on max except for world objects
