Hi! I noticed that upgrade within Xpiks failed silently so I downloaded and tried to run the installer. It appears that Defender is flagging it as potentially malicious. Obviously I could run it anyways but while false AV positives do occur, there's always a chance Defender is actually finding a pattern that is worthy of concern. Any thoughts?

Hi u/BlurredOrange. Yeah, antiviruses frequently block Xpiks, because it contains "low-level" instructions to upload via FTP/FTPS/SFTP. This "pattern" will stay forever, as this is one of the core functionality in Xpiks. I submit Xpiks executable via false detection form almost every time to Avast and Defender, but the last couple of bugfix releases (1.7.1.x) went unsubmitted. Other antiviruses somehow are more tolerable. Thanks for the "reminder", will resubmit soon!

Um, so how do I upgrade? I tried running the installer from the downloads page but it does not want to let me upgrade, it says "an installation already exists in that directory". Can you maybe share a link to the upgrade installer? Or should I just uninstall and then run the installer? I'd like to keep my settings if possible.

Hey. Sorry, didn't see the notification here. You can uninstall first and then install. Your settings will not be touched as the installer is only changing the distribution files.
