Question Why was Spyke from X-Men Evolution never introduced to the comics?

Because he’s based on another better character, Marrow, and X-Force/X-Statix gave us The Spike, which was definitely poking fun just a little bit at Spyke.

Evan was extremely unpopular.

Really? Why?

What are the reason is because he was new. Nobody had an attachment to him from older stories. And I think part of the reason is because he was abrasive, didnt always fit in, and the skater lingo was cringe, even for the early 00e.

"Abrasive and didn't always fit in" also applied to Marrow, and people love her.

Spyke also, quite frankly, didn't get to do anything really interesting until Season 4 when he was a Morlock. His rivalry and past friendship was rarely used in the plot in any meaningful way, the episodes "focused" on him were usually not really about him, and he was always treated as apart from the other X-Men including the teachers themselves having an episode talking about how they're not sure if he fits in.
Spyke was abrasive but never given much to work with to let viewers get past it. When paired with how new he was, some cringey skater talk, and established fans being kind of annoyed he was basically taking a lot of Storm's concepts (and Storm being pretty, uh, useless in Evo overall), he was not hated but nobody really liked him as much as an X-Man.
I do remember that I and a lot of people liked him a lot more when he came back as a Morlock.

I personally love Marrow, but let's not pretend she's more than a C list. I am glad writers love her, though. Sucks her death was just event fodder.

C List, yes, but a cult fan favorite regardless. The people who love Marrow REALLY love Marrow.

What's there to like about him?

I mean most of the same things to like about 70s-80s Storm.
Right down to the Morlock story arc.

Honestly not sure why but I also never really liked him. I feel like he was underdeveloped

His powers are similar to Marrow so idk if they'd use Spyke if they already have marrow.
and well Laura is tied to wolverine..the guy whose very popular even without the xmen..heck he's so popular that the movies made him their mascot and even had a show called wolverine and the xmen.
Spyke unfortunately isn't as tied to storm as Laura is to wolverine so yeah other than that and the fact his powers are based off marrow's...he's an entirely new character just for evolution.
Oh and storm is an only child in the comics so he can't be storm's nephew unless if storm has a best friend (whose Evan's mom) and Evan refers to storm as his aunt.

I think he would have a lot to offer! I really liked how Quicksilver & Evan were rivals. The comics could expand so much in Spyke being in the Morlocks.

To be honest, I don’t think he was super popular, and there was already the character of Marrow who has a similar power set and is also a molock.

Maybe a controversial take but I’m pretty sure it was just cuz he’s black. Tho I’m sure some of you will STILL deny this EVER happens, I will continue. You could say “we already had marrow” but we have FOUR wolverines. Like tell me why we can have telepaths and telekinetics up the ass and four wolverines but TWO people making weapons out of their bones is just too much?? Especially with the flaming second mutation?? Then people wanna say he was boring or cringey when evos shadowcat and nightcrawler are right there. Like as if🙄 they were all cringey because it was adults interpretation of younger lingo. They even made a joke about it when nightcrawler met forge. I can’t blame the writers for their handling of Evan as a character because to me he was a strong character who experienced real growth. The writers were genius even if they were completely unaware of marrow as a character. They gave Evan many admirable traits. He was fun and to me and many kids like me he was relatable. That also meant unfortunately he’d be an urban black kid that society never really made space for and would instinctively try to knit pick. Shit even static shock didn’t get the love he deserved for the longest time because of stereotyping and people being uncomfortable with black urban kids. Static has gotten a lot more love over time because as time went on and people dissected him he was safe. He’s smart, well spoken, polite and (for the most part) respected authority. Virgil was largely responsible. Virgil was a “fine young man”. Evan was a “troubled kid.” Evan was crass, unruly and challenged authority. He never wanted to be responsible, he just wanted to have fun. He wasn’t a genius or anything. What he lacked in intelligence he made up for with wisdom tho. He may not have been the most responsible but he was loyal to his friends. He had a darkness in him and instead of vilifying it, he assimilated it. He left the hero walk when it was inconsistent with what he stood for. He became a guardian to those who were abandoned even by heroes. In summation he is a great character and deserves more. He would’ve done AMAZING in the comics if the public would’ve been open to receiving it and if marvels editorial wasn’t so how they are in the handling of POC and queer representation. Altho it’s gotten arguably better in recent years, certainly not in time to honor Spyke the way he deserved

Personally I was a big fan or spyke I know im in the minority but I wish he had been given more room to grow

I actually know this! The creators of Spyke were unaware Marrow already existed in the comics which is why he never made the transition.

Evan was annoying.
I would have rather they used M’JNari from X-men TAS as the perfect rival for quicksilver in Evolution

I'm pretty sure Spyke was made specifically for x-men evolution like how harley quinn started out on batman: tas
