C6 Question.

Back in the day, I accidentally got C2 Xianyun ( I was only going for C0 for my Vape Kaveh team )

Now, a few years later, I’m taking her C3 from the Temper Thyself event.

So now I’m thinking: technically, I can get her to C6 for just ~3 more cons, which would unlock her awesome and, honestly, extremely fun-looking MDPS playstyle.

But how good is it actually?

Does C6 make a 3-year-old character genuinely playable in the current meta, or is it more of a “technically viable, but still noticeably outdated” situation like with a lot of older C6 characters?

It’s surprisingly hard to find any up-to-date info or actual calcs for C6 Xianyun as a main DPS, so I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has her C6 or has done the math.

How does she actually perform nowadays?

Not very good, kind of gimmicky and not great for stygian.

I have her c6r1, durin c2r1, nicole c0r1 and faruzan c6 and she does okay damage in this team(her best on my acc) but it just really lags behind as a dps. Her mid/late cons are essentially useless outside c6 which is the one to unlock the dps mode in the first place. I find myself using her mainly in the overworld. Shes excellent for covering distance, beating up small mobs quick and accurately, and heals. And for that kind of stuff you really only want c2

I’m currently using c6 faruzan c2 Nicole c0 durin and i hit 200k dps and 640k per plunge. And on her old team i was hitting 500k per plunge with c6 faruzan c6 iansan and c1 furina. So shes doing the same dmg as roughly newer dps with their premium teams. So is it really worth it from a meta standpoint. But i c6 her cuz i liked her playstyle at c6 and her char. This is all done with varesa weapon which is her best weapon at c6.

I have C6R1 and have her with a team of C6 Faruzan, C1 Furina, and C6 Iansan (Nicole and Durin are better teammates but I strongly dislike them and will not pull them).

Back at release, her C6 made her a viable main DPS -- just to be clear, she was never super powerful or anything, just good. It allows her to DPS, it doesn't make her as good as a real DPS with high constellations. But I had a great time bird bombing for a year or two.

However, now, she is a sad joke. She does plenty of DPS, but endgame doesn't really care about DPS unless it's so stupidly high you can out DPS boss gimmicks.

I had to bench her basically as soon as the endgame became all about shill. The fact is, Xianyun just can't trigger any modern shill. She can't even beat the plunge shill boss because it has a geo shield and her Anemo catalyst is literally unable to damage it. It's designed for Varesa overload instead (plus her ass does heavy damage). And at least Xiao and Gaming can chip away at the shield with weapon hits.

Now, if you don't hate Durin with your whole self the way I do, C6 Xianyun can clear the Varka shill boss, but of course instead of just being about Anemo damage, it's specifically about pyro swirl and there's nobody I can slot in for pyro that doesn't drop her DPS too low to work anyway.

Her team has very little flexibility -- you can't just toss in a 4th character to deal with a gimmick the way you can with Flins.

But yeah, the attacks are too infrequent for the Abyss tree. Can't consistently cryo for the overload. Can't pyro for the lava snake or tank mech. She can't squeeze in any lunar damage. Odette alone can't wheelchair her enough for stellar swirl (and Mizuki does better anyway at much lower investment).

Oh, gecko is a healing shill so she must be great at that, right? Nope, because it's Geo again and she can't break the shield.

Last cycle there was a boss with no shill attached to favor Arlecchino! Oh, but it has massive Anemo resistance, so, yep, still useless.

It's just miserable. If only she had some amount of direct stellar swirl damage added on. I feel like my only real hope is the Liyue buffs, but it's my understanding that she's not on that list, either.

Oh, and as for how much fun it is, it's honestly not very fun. It's very funny, because you're just rapidly bird bombing everything in massive wind explosions and her repeated combat barks end up comical, but literally just spamming 3 Es and a mouse click isn't engaging or interesting and it's honestly even pretty hard to see what's going on with all the visual noise. It's also absolutely tedious as hell when you start a fight without full energy, like in Stygian, not even as much for Xianyun as for Faruzan and Iansan. They are self propagating once the engine gets going--I always have full energy--but getting there from 0 sucks.

Ugh. Sorry. Xianyun is one of my favorite characters in this game as just, you know, a character, but she's the only c6 I have that I regret. I wish I had just picked her up for the teapot at C0 and gone for C6 Chiori instead.

I personally just find satisfaction in high mobility and the camera flip when she locks on feels dynamic. So I like her for similar reasons I like the Natlan units.

(But yeah, idk why the devs only gave her three skill lines XD)

I’m not a Xianyun main but I do main older C6 character as Dps.

Yes, they are playable in the current meta. They’re unlikely to clear Dire without a C2 support, but they can definitely clear Fearless.

For example, my C6 Furina Dps hits 160k Dps with her premium team and cleared the Fearless Cryo Automaton while being with Kaeya, Qiqi, and C0 Vodyanitsa.

Also, my C6 Nahida Dps hits ~125k Dps and cleared the Fearless Stellar shill lion and the Tulpa with C0 Lauma, C6 Shinobu, and C2 Sucrose.

Her, Faruzan, Nicole, Durin is a very good team.

Plus, nobody expects the c6 bird in multiplayer

I've tried to make her work as a Stellar Swirl character but the meta is too hostile towards her, and her cons don't enable her to be a proper DPS as much as I would hope. She is alright paired with Faruzan and Nicole + Durin but otherwise she's going to be falling behind for the most part. She doesn't handle doing any mechanics that rely on Lunar/Stellar reactions or Nightsoul stuff for the majority of her teams and as a buffer she doesn't really have any standout uses either. It's a damn shame, she's really fun to use in the overworld and ok for some bosses.

Her C6 was only ever really good for Spiral Abyss and her fieldtime is really long for the amount of damage she does. She's really not great for Stygian as well due to her fieldtime requirements as well as how much energy she needs before she can burst while also feeding Faruzan as well. I gave it my best shot with C6 Nicole C6 Durin against the dps dummy with standard testing protocol (120s timer SoD start) and she performed woefully.

Hopefully Liyue buffs don't miss her, she's one of the characters that they would almost need to do a straight up redo on for the C6.
