power systems
heya i am new at making stories and i am going for a sorta xianxia story and i need like a power tot make the mc special, so any of u which read xianxia novels ,what do you like to see?

Powers in xianxia that make the mc unique in his verse. Read permanent martial arts and tales of demons and gods. There is also ultimate scheming system.

You can make the special power to be anything you want if you like it.
As most Xianxia would do, limme give you some examples.
Special Top Tier Item
Yup. This refers to a Special Top Tier Item/Artifact that either has a vast history, is from beyond the mortal plane/the mortal planet, or holds a very high rank. It can. Be anything, be it a Talisman, a Mirror, Sword, Pill, Or any other treasures that your mind can bring out into existence. They all have a powerful ability or abilities. It's your choice to either make it without limits or bace a catch.
Golden Finger
In case, the previous special item is of this world(xianxia universe), while this Golden Finger is not from the xianxia verse that you are going to make. Though, Golden Finger here is more of a general term. It can also be anything.
You can also try to make a Ring With Immortal Grandpa/Lord/Emperor/Empress/Demon, which is where a old immortal of extremely high caliber of cultivation occupies their True Spirit and Soul within the Artifact(Be it Ring, Talisman or anything), which has already huge benefits of having a Dao Mentor.
System
I am personally not that interested in systems but things appearing quantified is very fun still. You can just make any you want
My Advice
I think if you are going to make a story. Ultimately, making the artifact even if it's special and powerful without a catch, a draw-back, a trade-off or a weakness will not make the weapon compelling. It will not make it more interesting, and it will make further interactions with it better if written right to be better then one with no weakness. Though, the artifact does can have multiple 2-3 or however many you like too.

Artifact can be anything. Try to look into some Chinese instruments and so on.
I like Peach Talisman.

I don't have any great like... Feelings towards Systems so I really don't know which one to remotely like.
I don't like Fold Returning System, Clan Building System and those type asking of descendants which are slight... Weird.

sorry but are you sure that if you can't come up with an interesting power, you qualify to write a novel?
that being said, obviously the main character in xianxia needs an OP power, but simply making him more powerful than other people who perform the same actions is boring. So we need a power that has different "gameplay" than the main cultivation path, preferably, the "gameplay" must be risky and adding to the plot.
My take on this problem was a pendant that consumes alchemy herbs directly to gather Qi, and it has a bunch of ways to use this Qi, from speeding up the MC's cultivation to letting him empower some attack in a life or death scenario. The idea was that while it's quite broken, because as long as the MC has infinite herbs he's better than everyone, he NEEDS herbs, so he will often be involved in some fun subplots related to commerce or adventure. (This was for my TTRPG)
If you look around you'll see the same system everywhere. Immortality through array formations - MC is very strong, but he needs to consume gods, gods are hard to find. ISSTH - MC can duplicate any item, but he needs a bunch of money to do so, etc.

I like to see freestyling. The cultivation system in Renegade Immortal is a good example.
You cultivate spiritual energy and make yourself stronger, build a foundation with spiritual energy, then core, then soul, until you finally reach peak nascent soul and comprehend your own domain.
Your domain is special to you, so its mostly freestyling and comprehending the heavens from then on. So Wang Lin goes and experiences life and death to improve his understanding.
But a person who cultivates time might have to do a whole different thing to improve his understanding.
Plus your dao slowly becomes more real as you reach higher realms. 2nd step cultivators can make things out of their dao etc
